I see why you said that - it does look like Illson Road going down the hill. There used to be a café part way down whose illuminated sign I once acquired for my bathroom. Alas, it is not Illson Rd. Try further East.

Spot on. It is an undated photo but looks like the early-mid 1960s to me. Obviously before '66 because the trolley bus lines are still up.

I went to St Bernadette's on the Dale. I used to go that way to my girlfriend's house on Brand X Street. Did you know Jennifer Snell from Sneinton Boulevard? Lived on the right going down to Colwick Road, near the bottom.

IIRC there used to be a tobacconists shop on the corner of Sneinton Blvd and Colwick road just out of shot on the left.

Lynmee beat me too it, know the area well.

The building on the left which was on the corner, I think was a Hardware shop.

But was it originally a Picture house?

First shop without an awning about the middle of the picture used to be a little cafe owned by a lady named, Grace. Often dropped in there for a cuppa and a fried egg in the mornings while working for EMEB.
