corsey was a pavement in my neck of the woods

I wouldn't have known what pavement meant, a corsey was a corsey, from the celtic word causeway, I assume, as in giant's.....................

Causway is in turn derived from Roman 'Corso' which means 'Course'

Nah then, mi dad used ter du this forrus. Eed gerra birra tissue paper and stick it on oner'is fingers. Then eed du the fly away bit an swop fingers so the tissue ad vanished. Cum bak was anuvver sowp o'th fingers an lo! irrud cum back - Majik!

Just realised that when my little one was toddling (he's five now) I would say to him, "That's ba-bars!" whenever he got near to something he shouldn't touch. It came automatically and it was what my parents used to say to me.
