14 year old boy murders mother..

Recommended Posts

A 14 year old boy frim Redhill killed his mum with a claw hammer then padded her body in paper before setting her alight after a row in wich she called him a 'freak'... heres the link to the full story ; http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-17540452

...Opinions?

Im amazed at how humans can do such things, me & my parents had so many arguements through my teenage years, but id never think about killing any of them. They blaim games, videos and films for his behavier, personally i think its already installed within.. there must of been something in his brain that made him want to watch the videos. How can the counsellors say he didnt pose a risk after telling them he heard voices telling him to hurt people.. were they just waiting for him to do something like this before taking action? it was only a matter of time.

Extremely upsetting news.

What a tragic waste of two lives.

Daniel, 'watching violent horror films since he was eight'; a few words that say such a lot. God Bless

Hi Pixie,so you don't buy into the theory that there could be a link, between violent videos and movies?

What about sex crimes against women,pornography/violence, and the easy obtainable drug 'Viagra'. Do you not think they could be instramental in these kinds of crime?

This lad lived just up the road from me. I recall the fire and the police tape to the rear of the property on Mansfield Road. A real local shocker.

My partner went to one of the court sessions as did a certain person from this site who she coincidentally spoke to!

Watching such material would at the very least 'nourish' his dangerous obsessions.

I found this interesting too:

'And forensic examinations of his computer also found footage of violent scenes from Trial and Retribution, EastEnders, Hollyoaks, and Coronation Street – the latter including the scene where the character John Stape kills a woman with a hammer.'

What does that say about some of the subject matter being pumped into people's homes via the medium of soap operas? There is a need of course to keep a balanced perspective about these things as watching Coronation Street does not make a heinous murderer out of most of us! (Though watching an episode of EastEnders can make you feel like slitting your own wrists).

Twas me, I can't deny it.

I have followed the case from day one.

Very tragic for the family, who the judge praised after the trial.

My opinion is that if this material provokes people to be murderers then more murders would be committed.

I saw this 'lads' performance in court, and when he gave evidence, the jury saw his true self come out.

I have never seen a defendant in any case give evidence in the way that he did.

My condolences go to the family, who have the real sentence!

And I did not know it was your partner Stu?

I read an article not so long back written by a psychologist in the US military who trains US marines and assists them to live with trauma, after all killing other humans isn't in most of our "make up".

He stated some years back he was given some video games to analize for pure scientific purposes.

The ones he was given were rated for youngsters younger than ten years of age, his verdict on them??

Well for starters, he said they were more graphic and violent than any video he trains troops with to "accustom" them to battlefield conditions!!

Says it all, he stated no wonder we have a young generation who are willing to commit violent acts without remorse, they have been desensitized to killing other people.

God knows what happens to people who actually see this stuff in real life during their careers then? :)

That's why the military uses trained people to "assist" men and women who return from war these days Mick. A word that comes to mind, "deactivate" them.

But were you trained to kill???

I was once requested to run a temp telephone line out for HM Inspector of Mines after a fatality in my district at Boulby Mine...I refused, the accident was a decapitation through a large piece of rock falling from a pillar...I haven't the stomach for such things.

My partner used to live in redhill, i was stopping the night it happend.. i was shocked when i read it on the evening post website thinking how local it was to us! Im not saying there isnt a link, but surely there must be something wrong 'up there' to make someone watch a film & be influenced by it. I know i can watch horrors and violent films & i dont give it a second thought, the only way such things effect me is making me jump while i watch!! Im a fan of 'violent' games, i used to play alot of call of duty before i had baby.... When i was growing up, my favourite game was resident evil (Remember that?) but iv grown up quite normal.. I was never aloud my own pc untill the age of 16 but even then what i went on was still checked up when i was out. Surely thats what all parents do?

I just think that you cant allways blaim the media for peoples actions, most people it wouldnt effect but for some, they have to have to be unbalanced for it to have such effect on them.

You know what gets me the most, i was talking to a friend about this. I wonder what her final thoughts where? No one expects to raise a child & for them to bludgen them because of an arguement... I dont look at my daughter and think theres that chance she may kill me. It just doesnt bare thinking about what that women must of thought about before taking her final breath, God bless the effected family & may she rest in piece.

This guy wrote a story on his computer about someone with his name killing his own mother with a hammer.

Then deleted it after the murder.

The police recovered it by computer forensics.

There are two types of people in this world. Good and Evil.

Once you become evil there is no going back to good!

In my respectful submission

just been reading the evening post (via the net ofcourse) ... they released some more stories about the case.

Im still trying to figure out how they didnt diagnose him with a mental illness, how can they say he didnt apose a threat to himself or people around him when he reported to his counsellor he had dreams, he felt sad and angry & that he had voices telling him to hurt certain people & was finding it hard to resist?? It also says this;

''In May of that year he was referred to a school counsellor after an incident in class, where he became upset and began shouting and screaming at his tie which he called "Fred".

He told classmates that his tie was trying to hurt him.

Bartlam revealed during counselling he was having bad dreams, felt sad and angry and was hearing voices telling him to act.

Mr Smith had told the court: "He said the 'voice' tells him to hurt particular people who have upset him and made him angry and that he was almost fully controlled by it and finding it hard to resist."

By what i said before the qoute & the fact he had an 'argument' with his tie he named fred & told fellow classmates his tie was trying to hurt him.. Im sorry, but that says to me this boy needed help, people are born with mental illness (I believe so anyways) but it just may take a while before it rear's its head, How can these 'professionals' & Counsellors dismiss all this & what he told them and say he was fine and had no mental illness?? I really dont get it. Does anyone else agree?

It got to be a very complex case when social workers and psychiatrists got involved.

I did skip some of that part, I felt my self falling asleep.

I think this case is going to be one of those famous cases.

Te BBC hired a barrister to argue have the reporting restrictions lifted.

His defence argued that it could effect his development if he was named.

The Judge disagreed, as he will be in prison during this time and not subject

to the publicity. In 3 years he will be an adult.

The start Tariff for Murder by a boy of his age is 12 years, but after mitigation/aggravating features, (Pre planning and trying to say that the murder was committed by a man who set the body on fire before jumping out of the window.)16 years.

15 years, 25 days (after time already served) before review is is even considered, but I believe he was warned not to expect to be released then?

The press were issued with a full copy of the Judges deliberations Have the EP not published it, I do not take the paper.?

HAVING WORKED WITH MANY CHILDREN FROM TINY BABIES TO 18 YEAR OLD MY PHALOSOPHY WAS 90 PERCENT OF ALL KIDS ARE NICE KIDS NOW MATTER WHAT BACKGROUNDS THEY COME FROM 2 PER CENT ARE POSITIVELY EVEL AND ONE WAY OR ANOTHER THEY WILL COME TO A BAD END THE OTHER 8 PERCENT ARE THE FOLLOWER AND CARNT OR DEAR NOT DO ANY OTHER THAN WHAT THAT 2 PERCENT TELL THEM BUT WHEN THEY GET STRONG ENOUGH WILL BREAK AWAY OR BECOME LIKE THE TWO PERCENT.

I did some work for this family 3 or 4 years ago when they were living in Nuthall. I was shocked when I heard about Jacquies murder and even more shocked reading about the case. You hear stories like this all the time but this one has certainly touch a nerve with me.

It feels more surreal that anything Mick. I only met them a couple of times and I've seen hundreds of clients since then but she stuck in my mind because she was a really nice and friendly lady.

It's always the good people to be taken from us, iv lost a friend due to someone's stupidness on the road... & an aquentence through to murder who lived on my street - that effected me more than loosing a friend, I heard her screams and whitnessed her body being taken out from the property later that evening to a private ambulance. I didn't mean to see it, I was on my way out as it happend on my birthday! Makes you wonder who you have around you, be it family or not.
