Might be of interest to some on here, an event at Lowdham:

Friday 4th May 2 - 3.30pm

"Narrow Marsh" and "Leen Times"

with local author Alan Dance

Chilwell born author and historian Alan Dance has had great success with his two novels set in early 19th century Nottingham amongst the city's framework knitters in an era of bitter social unrest. Alan's working life was spent in the rail industry and he will talk about how hecame to write and publish two locally-based historical novels, what influenced him to write them, where he got the ideas from, and also how real historical events of the time (both national and local, some well known, others less so) were used and woven into the plots, forming a background for the stories. He will also talk a little about what was actually involved in publishing, promoting and selling the books.

Alan has a real passion for history and is a born storyteller.

Friday 4th May 2 - 3.30pm

Tickets available from The Bookcase, Lowdham 0115 966 3219
