The centre closed down, late 1986 ( Sept. ish). Was transferred to Wath on Dearne. Got fed up driving 54 miles each way every day, so took up the offer of redundancy, ( better offer than from Eastwood Hall) !! I asked my boss where W on D was and he said " If you imagine Rotherham being the arse of Britain, then Wath is the suppository that bin pushed up it !!! "

Beekay 5,094
It sounded lovely when I first heard of it = Golden Smithy's lane' ,how delightful. How bloody wrong can you be !! Surrounded by headstock's etc. Used to drive to Mansfield in me own car, then pick up NCB car and carry on to W on D. Silly thing is I was supposed to be based at Mansfield med centre but they didn't have a place for me or owt to do. B.

Thought it had been taken over by some warehouse or housing group (or summat). Compo if your reading this, I were there 1948-54. Beekay.

It closed down around 2004/2005. It is now dedicated art studios although they recently opened it up for a heritage day. I attended and took some photos which I'll have to try and post at some point. Compo 10,326
Right....anyone into animal porn? Here's a photo of a pair of orb web spiders having a right old sex session in my greenhouse yesterday. I managed to catch them just as the male (smaller) was passing his sperm sac (the white thing) to the female. The good news is that when they had finished, he managed to back carefully away and escape with his life For a bigger, more detailed image see the link in the next post.
