The "M Durose" was my aunt, in the photo she is the girl without the glasses, her elder sister and brother are there along with my grandparents, suspect my father was not yet born which would make date of photo between 1905 and 1916, I reckon 1914/15, and took I think in 510 Vernon Rd Old Basford

Now that's a name I haven't heard in years "Wireohms" They used to have a factory in St Anns years back, my late Mum worked there for a while.

They made electric fire elements.

Ashley, what wonderful treasures the above @ #1; thank you for sharing them with us.

The letter I find fascinating: we actually get to know quite a bit about Miss Durose (lovely name), Elsie and the writer.

PS: I've given you a tick for this. :)

I wonder who the Ogres were and what was being doled out to them?

Hi Ashley,

interesting photo of your Grandparents and their children, unusual that your Grandfather posed in his uniform with his family,

a real treasure.

Have you researched your family history?.

It must be even more unusual to pose wearing an ammunition bandolier.

It was part of a 'cavalry mans' uniform Compo, 'infantry man' would wear a webbing belt, there was no ammunition carried untill he went into combat.
