Maybe a bit under-rated and under-valued talent. Some of his earlier stuff is incredibly surreal and almost avant-garde; not quite on the same level as Spike Milligan but certainly close.

And for most of his life he was deaf (or at last partially) but he continued to write, work and perform.

His track record is something he could be proud of.

Yes he was a great comedian.

That Idiot who was fiddling his tax could learn much from Eric.

RIP Eric.

We might see you on the Telly Now?

Thanks for posting The Plank, Mick....very funny, makes me laugh out loud every time I watch it!

You might like to read his autobiography: " If I Don't Write It, Nobody Else Will, " very entertaining....

Another link to the past is gone but not forgotten.

Enjoyed his antics and he and Hattie were a TV must see back then.

A pity they don't make them like that any more.

R.I.P.

One of the great comedians to have graced our lives,a man of so many talents.

Never, crude, lewd, or rude, and so very much under-rated for his comic genius.

'Heavens above', a classic Eric Sykes,at his best. Thank you for the memories. RIP Eric.

Seem to remember the Policeman called 'Korky' played by the inimitable Dereck Guyler (world renowned washboard player) who was with Eric & Hattie in their famous series.................

RIP Eric

Pity he chose Richard Wattis...he played an upper class twat...trouble was that's what he was...and a crap actor.Eric was brilliant on stage with Jimmy Edwards...absolutely hilarious when they got together.

 Oh I did love Eric Sykes when I was a kid, him and his sister Hattie.

Eric, as thin as a beanpole - too daft to be true - and Hattie, big, bosomy and beautiful. These two worked so well together you could believe they were brother and sister for real. How privileged we public were, to be allowed a little half hour peak once a week into their catastrophic lives.

God Bless Eric, a lovely man; clever yet unassuming. :)
