.... 23
Sad news coming through that dear old Eric Sykes has passed away aged 89 years. Loved Eric, a very funny man indeed. Rest in Peace.
Cliff Ton 10,455
Maybe a bit under-rated and under-valued talent. Some of his earlier stuff is incredibly surreal and almost avant-garde; not quite on the same level as Spike Milligan but certainly close. And for most of his life he was deaf (or at last partially) but he continued to write, work and perform. His track record is something he could be proud of.
.... 23
Agree with the above. He was able to take that to a mass TV audience too. Eric and Hattie seemed like fixtures on the box when I was growing up.
mick2me 3,033
Yes he was a great comedian. That Idiot who was fiddling his tax could learn much from Eric. RIP Eric. We might see you on the Telly Now?

Trevor S 2,003
Another link to the past is gone but not forgotten. Enjoyed his antics and he and Hattie were a TV must see back then. A pity they don't make them like that any more. R.I.P.
mudgie49 401
One of the great comedians to have graced our lives,a man of so many talents. Never, crude, lewd, or rude, and so very much under-rated for his comic genius. 'Heavens above', a classic Eric Sykes,at his best. Thank you for the memories. RIP Eric. jackson 301
Oh I did love Eric Sykes when I was a kid, him and his sister Hattie. Eric, as thin as a beanpole - too daft to be true - and Hattie, big, bosomy and beautiful. These two worked so well together you could believe they were brother and sister for real. How privileged we public were, to be allowed a little half hour peak once a week into their catastrophic lives. God Bless Eric, a lovely man; clever yet unassuming.
