TBI 2,351
Sad, but kept intact. The following year, the building to the left ( Novacade ) was totally demolished and re-built.
nonnaB 4,895
I worked in Sawyers down stairs bar 3 nights a week in the late 60's Looking at the photos of them I tried to think where I parked my car. The Broad Marsh car park wasn't there ( I don't think) then I thought I'm sure there was a road at the side of Sawyers or maybe next door but one. So probably parked my car there because I certainly wouldn't have walked very far even in those days.
philmayfield 6,130
I remember parking in the Broad Marsh car park in the 60’s. It was just a large open space at the time. I also remember going in the Sawyers before it was a Berni That was quite an education!
denshaw 2,872
Stanford street at the back of Sawyers was close by, near the Dungeon club.
Cliff Ton 10,465
There was a big open-air car park on the land between Carrington Street and Greyfriar Gate - effectively opposite the big Woolworths which was just down from the Sawyers.
nonnaB 4,895
Thanks Denshaw. That was the street.
