Unfortunately this one comes across as an aging mans lament for days long gone, it's also a fallacy to compare this to Leonard Cohens work, Cohen is/was & continues to be a poet above all else.
Perhaps, I didn't word it very well - I'm not comparing this lyrically to any Cohens work because they just don't stand comparison. However, Cohen's songs do have a melancholic mood and it was that I was referring to; it seems Bowie is missing his days in Berlin.

I quite like it too, it's very minimal and melocholic - a bit Leonard Cohen (ish)? Also reminds me a bit of some krautrock from the 70's and the video of scenes from Berlin reinforce that.

Working on farms and allotment, the first I've heard of that but I'm not surprised as it was the war years.
The sign above the door on the Claremont Road building suggests the school was established in1844.

Following on from Sillitoe Day, there is a major photographic exhibition based on Saturday Night, Sunday Morning at the Djanogly Art Gallery; it runs from Saturday 17 November - Sunday 10 February.

I'm hoping to get along to both events - a few of my recent pictues of Nottingham have been shortlisted for inclusion in the new Sillitoe app that's being launched on the day. If any are included I'll be more than chuffed!

Today, Jake Bugg has become the youngest British male to debut at number 1 in the history of the album charts - a great day for him and for Nottingham.
The album is well worth getting, I think it's on Spotify if you want to listen to it first.

I've got a feeling Bromley House Library and some others objected to the height as it would impact on the gardens at the back, so, there may be a revised plan, on the other hand, the planning department may just have ignored them.

I do think we're sometimes a little conservative about modern architecture and how it can improve areas of a city, however, the Trinity Square development is a dreadful design (niether modern nor classical) - in my opinion it's already looking a bit tired; I wonder what life-span they put on these buildings?
