  1. And lets not forget Arthur Swindley, Alf Roberts, the corner shop proprietor, Elsie Tanner, Ernest Bishop - killed in a botched robbery, Brian Tilsley (married to Gail - poor B*****d,) stabbed to death in a fight, (wasn't as hard as he made out, apparantly) Ivy Tilsley, Tracey Barlow, Eddie Yates (my favourite) Curly Watts, ............

  2. Qantas After every flight, Qantas pilots fill out a form, called a "gripe sheet," which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft. The mechanics correct the problems, document their repairs on the form, and then pilots review the gripe sheets before the

    next flight.

Never let it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humour.

Here are some actual maintenance complaints submitted by Qantas' pilots (marked with a P) and the solutions recorded (marked with an S) by maintenance engineers.

P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement.

S: Almost replaced left inside main tire.

P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough.

S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft.

    P: Something loose in ****pit.

    S: Something tightened in ****pit.

    P: Dead bugs on windshield.

    S: Live bugs on backorder.

P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per

    minute descent.

S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground.

P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear.

    S: Evidence removed.

    P: DME volume unbelievably loud.

S: DME volume set to more believable level.

P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick.

    S: That's what they're for.

    P: IFF inoperative.

S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode.

    P: Suspected crack in windshield.

    S: Suspect you're right.

    P: Number 3 engine missing.

S: Engine found on right wing after brief search.

    P: Aircraft handles funny.

S: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious.

    P: Target radar hums.

S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics.

    P: Mouse in ****pit.

    S: Cat installed.

And the best one for last..................

P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a

midget pounding on something with a hammer.

S: Took hammer away from midget

  3. with the rest we would buy a lovely bungalow in the country away from barking dogs, loud music, screaming brats on the way home from school and HOODIES hanging round the street

When you find somewhere in the Uk that's fit's the bill, let us know and we might just end up as neighbours !laughing!

I won't hold my breath though.

  4. Did you work under VAL then Frank ? A pretty decent fella by all accounts.

You must have known this Harry also. Always had a grin on his face,,,,, short tight curly hair !

'fraid not. I worked for the EM Gas Board as an apprentice gas fitter upon leaving school. It was the gas board who did all of the gas fitting pipework. I remember the site hut - tea mashing equipment, primus stove - and a big Tea Chest in the corner full of copper pipe offcuts!!

I think they used to call the work - carcassing - fitting the pipework as the buildings went up.

  5. I worked on the Rise Park estate in 1967 when I left school. The estate started at the bottom of the hill near to Hucknall Road. One of the first roads was Brownlow Drive which runs from the bottom of the hill to the top in a crescent semi circle.

At the time, the shops and Charles II was also being built. The only other buildings in the area were the WestGlade and EastGlade schools. The rest was just fields. Rise Park to the right of the main road was built later, then Pine Hill, Heronridge and then Top Valley, which I think consisted of 5 phases. Bigwood and Warren hill followed after.

I remember years later when we moved to Heronridge (1975) that some of Rise Park was featured in a film and on the closing shots from high up on Brownlow, our house could be seen. Not possible now as all the trees etc would block the view.

Anyone remember seeing Rise Park in a film circa late 70's early 80's??

  6. now fixed (I think,,,,,)

but whenever I load MS-Word, 5/6 macro choices pop up that I have to click "disable" before it loads !

    Hi Baz

Open MS Word then click ALT + F8.

This will bring up a Macro box where you can highlight any Macro's you do not want and then click the 'Delete' button. This should stop the problem.

  7. Geez - I nearly had to direct you to one of the other forums I Moderate and Mick frequents now and again!

If it's a single compressor unit doing both Freezer and Fridge, then there are a few things that go wrong.

This one sounds like it was the defrost heater stuck on. I'm assuming that it's a frost free item, so, every now and then, the compressor switches off and the defrost heater comes on to clear the evaporator of any ice build up. Sometimes, either the defrost sensor has come loose, gone out of calibration or the relay sticks.

As it's now working again, my advice would be to unplug it for at least 24 hours, preferrably 48 hours, with the door open to allow the evaporator to completely clear.

The couple of hours you have had it off is just a short term fix.

For more advice, have a look on here and post your problem, together with make and model numbers, and, if you say hello and be polite, you will certainly get a pro answer. http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.php?...&file=index
