  1. All the lads would get their Gaberdine suits at Beales in the 50`s , Electric Blue was the favourite shade, and then strut around with their Suede shoes at " The Barn ( Astoria ) I remember buying a pair of Suedes I even recall the brand " Cathedral " , on the box it stated " They will wear out the Pavement. Me and a mate used to get in the Ice Stadium on Hockey nights for free , but after each section we had to rush around collecting Glases in the Bar and then rush back to our seats without missing too much. On Alfreton Rd Chuck Zamick had a Home or a Shop , I can`t quite remember.

  2. I bought my first 78 in Hindleys in 1947 ( Edmundo Ros And His Orchestra ) Edmundo is 100 years old and still alive in Spain " The Wedding Samba " and side 2 " Mahia From Bahia " , drove my mother mad with it and others of the era. " Red Ingles And His Natural Seven " " Stan Kenton " ( Saw Stan at the Odeon Stage 1962 ) " Stan Freburg

Doris Day ( Still going in the U.S.A." ) Peggy Lee, And on the radio Saturday night was Jack Jackson with the Top Twenty.

    And Sunday afternoon Sam Costa.

Not quite sure about it`s history but I believe I may have been one of the first students 1943 or 45 We had a smart Uniform and The Blazer Badge was 3 or 4 Bearded Needles ( As used in Knitting Machines ),Headmasters name was Mr Hadrill. , The only thing I remember regarding Textiles is reclaiming some Old Knitting Machines in " Blacks Factory " up North Sherwood Street, we washed all the parts in Paraffin and we got the Machines up and running, I remember doing an exhibition at the Y.M.C.A . I endeed up starting my working life as a trainee Sewing Machine Mechanic at William Gibsons on Thurland Street. in 1947

I think i've asked this question before but cant find the link. Hucknall had 3 stations i believe. One on watnall Rd (where the doctors surgery is now), one where the existing station still is, and i think i was told there was one opposite Station Hotel but on Linby Road (where some bungalows are now built and where the double roundabout is near Tesco). i know nothing about the latter. what was it called? does anyone have any pics please?

  9. Have put this in 1960's as that's when most vanished. I am seeking info on The Great Northern Lines in the northern suburbs to the west of Bagthorpe junction esp after the old Cinderhill Road bridge up to Kimberley Station, it's route in relation to today's roads etc, also the route of the Midland line after it's Cinderhill Rd bridge. Obviously any photos or info on where to see most welcome, thanks
