Hi to everyone who attended ACHS - I was there from Sept 65 to June 72 and have posted a couple of times on this forum, once in October and again today and yesterday exchanging memories with Mick Smith.  If you want to see some photos I took of the buildings just before they were recently demolished, plus some old ones I found on the internet, go to the facebook site I started at https://www.facebook.com/davidjames1965to1972/  If that link doesn't work, just do a facebook search for Arnold County High School, Nottingham.  Please leave a comment if you visit!

David,  I have tried to leave messages on here and the facebook site but don't know if they get there so to speak---are we still meeting up at Mellish on Saturday

  2. Hi David, I had stopped looking at this site as there didn't seem to be any new postings on it---I came upon it accidentally a couple of months ago--good to hear from you.

I'm afraid I don't have a contact for Rob, Chris(who has lived in Tasmania for many years now) got in touch with me as he was coming over last year and we arranged a little get together on Mapperley top...Chris was in touch with Ian Jones and he came over to see him a couple of years before that to see him as he had been diagnosed with cancer, Ian unfortunately died before he saw him.

Rob is divorced from his first wife...ACHS girl--Ros I think her name was, but now has a younger partner and I think he has a child with her--Rob is a judge in family courts and lives in Derby.

I don't go up the rugby club  and haven't done for years, but have been to a couple of reunions up there---glad to know John is still around, he has prostate cancer--was given not long to live a few years ago !

I remember the parties, though never had one myself, remember going to one at yours and I think John Hancock, and yes the horrible party 7's. I will make an effort to meet up with you at one of the home games..will try and make the 27th...can't make the 6th i'm afraid.

Will write more of what I know on here again when I have more time...a quiz awaits me now !!

Now live in Mapperley..names that I recall over the years, pete brett, mick guise, jon pilgrim, dave leavesly, lucy Henson, rae Roberts, denise taylor, jane richley, anita cast, billy pinder , ian jones, stu oakden, david james, rob severn, chris marlow, matthew harris, martin Thewlis, pete squires, mark towers(died last year) jane casterton, alex sudlow, janet Rayner , Elaine Rowlands, gareth Rowlands, ian wood, clive rossin,

  8. Hi all, by a strange quirk I found this site...again apparently although I don't ever remember looking at it previously. Walked in on my partners mother watching Inn of the Eigth Happiness about Gladys Aylward and said I believed I had met her--said I thought she had visited the school and handed out book prizes and I thought it must have been around 1966--I was luck enough to have won a prize when in the first year and assume it was presented in the second year---anyway when I searched..had Gladys ever visited Nottingham, the site came up and lo and behold, someone else remembered that she had attended, great, not just my imagination.

I was in the same year as David James, Pete Brett, Joe Jackson Chris Marlowe, Martin Thewlis etc--we held a reunion of the year back in about 2001 I think when Sonia Rockley came over from the US and had a good gathering at the Tree Tops and a group of about 4 of us attended the 50th anniversary in 2009, myself, Pete, John Pilgrim and David Leavesley and met a few others there we knew.

Chris Marlowe, now living in Tasmania and has done for many years was over last year and myself, Rob Severn and Andrew Spowage(now married to Jane Richley) met up at the Bread and Bitter in Mapperley for lunch.

Anybody remember Benjamin Feitelson ?--well at the 2009 meet, Pete Brett had a photo of a school football team and they couldn't identify one player..it was Benjamin. a French lad I believe..anyway found him on facebook and he asked for a copy of the pic..he has been a successful film actor and producer.
