I taught there, student, unqualified in the Infants. Head teacher Miss Morgan . I was there for one year before going to train to be a teacher. That was 1954/5. I remember a girl called Pat Rogers who kept in touch with me. She married a miner. I have a class photo which I will scan and post. I retired from teaching in 1996 and live in Spain.

Was there also a house in Mapperley Park for officers or MPs? I lived on Zulla Road and quite a few of the children used to be given Neckos, delicious sweets, by the soldiers and doughnuts from a canteen bus that used to stop outside the house nearby. I remember Johnny Palatierri who was a NY taxi driver in his former life and I think he wrote his telephone number in my Mum's address book. From the boots I think they were paras. Must have been 1943/44.

My local cinema was the Curzon on Mansfield Road in Carrington. I think it might have been described as Art Deco in style. I cannot believe that I was allowed to ask an adult to take me in! I was taken in responsibly by my older sisters occasionally except for the first X film that was shown. Rosalind Russell featured as did her cleavage!
