Series 1 Episode 12 is probably not Long Eaton. The early series were made in Birmingham; it didn't come to Nottingham until Series 4.
And when did Pidcock Motorcycles start in Long Eaton ? Looking at old telephone directories, there is no Pidcock Motorcycles listed there at least up to 1984.
A mate of mine bought a bike from them,I'm sure it was in 1989.

I had one of the RAF blue rucksacks,it lasted me all through school and the first few years at work.It was covered in felt pen scribble, the top flap was painted black with Budgie (the rock band not the bird) painted on in red.

My mother knew a couple of people who saw Acton privately, although at the same practice. They found him charming. Filthy lucre obviously makes a big difference!
From the mid 70s until she retired in 1986, my mother worked in the afternoons at the offices of a dental laboratory on George Street. She said that Acton sent some of his work to them but did quite a lot of it himself. Perhaps he was a better dental technician than dentist. They did porcelain jacket crowns, megalium and gold work for him but Acton did all his own acrylics, etc.
Jill, I worked at the same dental laboratory from 1985-1990.Could I ask your Mothers name please?

Back in the 1980s I used to take my bikes to Dawsons in Netherfield for MOTS.Park them around the back and wander off for a bit. They never seemed to have moved when I went back to collect them but the MOT had been done.

Yes,RIP Paul Raymond but I am pleased Neil Carter has stepped back into the band to take his place.I saw them at the Concert Hall, possibly 86,on the Misdemeanour Tour, not a highlight for the band.

I got turned away from Yates for having a new pair of black jeans on once.It was my works Christmas session meeting up point that night and long before mobile phones.Hung around outside but it was bitterly cold so ended up going home and missing the works do.That was nearly 30 years ago and I have only been back in once since.

There was a small motor cycle spares place on Carlton road near Carlton square,on the left side of the road heading from town, looked like a junk shop but the guy who ran it knew exactly where everything was,he carried most spares for most motorcycles, maybe some were secondhand, can't think of the name,
Rog
I think it was Crosslands.

Ah,good point about the schools.I had forgotten that Edward Cludd and the Minster were seperate back then.Jack is my uncle, they live down south nowdays.
As for Southwell pubs,I used to spend a fair bit of time in the White Lion in the mid to late 90s.
-
Scriv,If you were at the Minster in the 70s you might remember my dad,Gordon Pearson.

The Moon was always a good pub; being a real ale man I preferred the Marquis at Hoveringham, worked there for a while too both for Barbara and her successor Barry.
We used to go in the Marquis a fair bit,I remember Barbara and then Barry.

'Dusty' Mapleston is my Ex brother in law, I still see him, and his wife Steph who still has a Gents Hairdressers shop.

It must be my memory playing up.I do remember the house on the corner as you turn off the main road into Gonalston and also the mill being an empty shell probably late 70s.
