Trevor S 2,003
Nice clip.....The Vauxhall was a taxi. Dead giveaway is the black and cream colour and if you look closely below the rear bumper on the right hand side as it drives away; you can see the oval taxi cab rego plate. Back then, taxis were hired for wedding cars and when at the Shell garage on Castle Boulevard in the late 50s, taxi regulars would come in, wash their cars and clean the insides in our wash bay, affix the ribbons and go to pick up the bride etc. I can remember the taxi drivers getting changed into their suits and having a peaked cap for the occasion but I cannot recall a white jacket ever being worn - must have been a special one. These Mace Archives are remarkable. I was searching through and found a short clip involving somewhere that I used to live. The opening shot is taken upstairs some 51 years ago from the room that used to be my bedroom. That view and other things in that clip brought a whole lot of memories flooding back, I tell you!
