  3. I love a nice glass of good french red wine not the cheap ones the good ones, being as my sister owns a good old irish pub in Brittany. Coupled with the wine sitting in the garden, slowly tasting its ambience to perfection. Wine is so so under rated in this country, come on you lot, try some. ;)

  4. Hey John my favourite subject as a once non believer. But most of my family now gone to the other side(if that exsists that is) none have appeared to me in person, just hubby and he is more sceptical than me until .... one day :o

Where do i start, my best mate Margaret died of an incurable disease, not thru her fault however, it was passed on to her by her then husband. You can guess which it is, it started in Africa???

Anyway she died in her early 40,s. her family rang us and told me to sit down, they had bad news for us. Totally unprepared, they said she had committed suicide, and hung herself.

We, me and Alan were going on holiday the week after her death, i could not cancel as we went with his parents. According to the family and friends the funeral went fine.

We came back from our holidays and things started to happen in our house, we were in bed one night when the alarm went off at least 3 times, alan went downstairs to investigate, thinking we have burglars, but no, no one there.

Different things happened over that week, like her picture falling off the wall face upwards on my lounge floor, my youngest daughter took a bath one evening and things flew off the wall. The stereo would get louder when music played. do many different things happened in our house.

We decided to check out a medium, laugh you may well, i did. But what that medium told me was awe inspiring. She told me about Maggie as she called her and how she was trying to get back to send some message to us , that she understood how upset i was at her passing. Hence she was doing these things to get my attention in my house, she even told me that maggie liked my new drapes in my lounge, how spookie love.

We did what the medium suggested and asked out loud to margaret to stop it, but hey guess what, she is still at it, my neighbours will confirm this. when i play sixties music, go in my kitchen and prepare the dinner, the stereo system goes louder and louder . i have witnesses to this, but in my heart, i know its just margaret saying hello, and asking me to think of her, which i might add, we do.

My house is on the market, but i know wherever i go Margaret will come with me in spirit, We just tell her go now "go away margaret" we love you still, and please dont keep starting our burglar alarm off in the middle of the night, we have to sleep you know, you are sleeping.

It seems to work now, she is listening, but she is all around here sometimes, aids is a horrible disease she should know, thats why she took her own life.

Goosy pimples now, as i type this i still feel her with me, her soul and presence, and i do love her still as the best friend i ever had in this world anyway.

  5. Hey forgot this principal, going in Nottm on a weekend, seeing the cops who look about 18yrs old, thats getting old John.

When your kids start telling you what to do, how to do it and why!

Making a fool out of yourself thinking your still sweet sixteen (ask cali girl she will confirm that about me).

And remembering to log onto this forum

  6. Womans point of view now men, HRT not mentioning the creams.

Getting the names of the kids in the wrong order (demensia)

Smoking more ciggarettes to aleviate the stress of age

Trying to keep up with drinking with an eighteen year old

Wearing articles of clothing you would not want your partner to see, ie, everything is now going south, turn light off.

Eyes fading but labido in tact from my point of view lol.

Having to dye ones hair, from choice i might add.

Listen to your kids telling you what to do now (who is the mum)

Lastly humiliation of going to eat out in restaurant and the waitor is repeating his menu, thinking old people are stupid or senile, thats when i wanna say i am young really, its just the wrinkles appeared overnight lol <_<

  7. Hey John

Dont tell mad jenny about the turd thing in cars lol, remember the get together, maybe i should have left a turd for her daughters car near the Trip, the smell would put em off hey, and the car would still be intact now without the missing items.

The other thing us meddars mates used to do was hide in "wide entry" that was inbetween Goodhead Street and Rupert Street, there were little yards off it, we used to wait until it got dark and hide, when an unsuspecting victim came down it we used to jump out and scare the living daylights out of em. How pathetic it seems now, especialy with the coronary rates to date.

  8. We used to tie two door knobs together with string, knock on both doors and run off.

Also we used to get an old shoe box, wrap it with loads of gift paper like a parcel and leave it under the lamp post and watch for the victim to come along, pick it up thinking he had found a pressie, then hear them curse when they finally opened it to find an eightney.

  9. Hey guys you must try this one for summer in the garden, Picnic Pie, sounds yuk but try it hubby loves it, passed down from my grandma.

    8oz Ruff puff pastry,

1 LargeOnion finely chopped and fried,

8 oz sausage meat pork of course,

    6 oz cheese (mature)

    2 tablespoons Tomato Puree

    2 tablespoons White Breadcrumbs

    1 Egg beaten

    Salt/pepper

    Milk to glaze

Mix Onions, sausage meat, cheese, tom puree, breadcrumbs, egg and salt and pepper in bowl with hands. Roll out ruff puff pastry into a strip like sausage roll size 14 x 10. fill with above mixture in the centre of the pastry , Dampen the edges to fold in like an envelope with the milk, and bake 35 -40 min on gas mark 200 top shelf. Yummy first one to bake it gets a prize if they dont like it, ya can eat it hot or cold, trust me , i am a medders gel. dicko

  10. Wilford road, the Loco pub as we called it, my mum god bless her worked there, my x brother in law was in the 60's the Landlord, Ernie and Kath Hart. When i was 18 i did my first bar stint at the Castle Pub just futher up Wilford Road towards Castle Boulevard end. Me mams favourite shop on Wilford Road was the porn shop.

As for eightpenny bridge, Deering School was over it and we didnt have to pay then.

Another infamous pub was the Magna Carta, Wilford Road and Kirkwhite Street Junction, there was a blind woman who played the organ there at weekends and her faithful guide dog, i think her name was Ada? does anyone remember her?

Opposite the Magna there was a factory, and as a child i remember it caught fire and all us kids went up there to watch it burn down.

I have a lot of pics of Wilford Road, must pass them on to Mick to include on the forum for all who have forgotten Wilford Road. dicko

  11. June shelton rings a bell, but the face i cannot place at all. I have an excellent memory usually, must be the beer from last nights wobble in Trip lol :P Tell me more details about her, or better still try and find out who she hung around with on Kinglake Street. Dicko

  12. coopers club once named 360 to us still is that, being as we are still members lol, hubby in them buffs, he dont go very often these days, bit boring now he says, trying to learn the secret code from him under the influence, to no avail.

Many good memories in the sixties of the good old 360 club. hey they still have live bands in there at the weekends though, many sixties music too.

Piccadily club just down the road was the other drinking oasis anyone remember that too,, dicko

  13. Mick i organise school reunions for deering and bosseyed, but because of the popularity of them it escalates into people coming who once lived in the meadows, so anyone now attends, i usually post it on friends reunited site under both schools. The last one we had was two years ago and about 200 attended, we held it at the police HQ central in town. There is one soon but not exactly a reunion, i posted it on bosseyed, its june 30th at the stute, bosworth closing and mike hall the headmaster has invited all x pupils, but had some emails from meddars people saying they never went to bosworth, but they are coming to the stute that night for nostalgic reasons. dicko

  14. hey John, when you came out of the Stute or the clifton Hotel on the same side of the road, it was straight into Clara 's fish shop for your supper, does anyone remember that, and her cat that always sat in the chip shop window. It was right next to the Hozene factory on Briar Street. Had many a happy hour there, say no more, dicko
