Just returned from a wonderful afternoon on the Victoria Embankment with my wife and grandchildren.
I had a couple of hours fishing and watched the kids play scooting safely up and down the embankment and flying a kite.
My wife enjoyed the warm autumn sunshine and a cup of tea.
A great afternoon costing only a couple of ice creams.
What forsight out Victorian forefathers must have had when they constructed the Embankment for the enjoyment of the people of Nottingham and surrounding areas (I say that because I do not live in the City)
Similarly the Forest Recreation ground and the Arboretum, two oases !tanning! of peace in the City, again planned and built by the Victorians.
Anyone think of anymore?
Will we leave a legacy to our great great grandchildren to enjoy for free?
I don'T think so.

Anyone remember the good old balaclava knitted by mums at the beginning of every winter and worn throughout the cold weather to 'stop earache'
Usually in grey but occasionally in other more 'trendy' colours such as dark blue or green.

Dodger Green was certainly one a Nottinghams Finest Working from the Guildhall, Central Div. before he took up the licensed trade. Another part of his eccentricity was a season ticket for his yorkshire terrier at Meadow Lane. (But was all this 'eccentricity' good publicity?

Probably Ilkolad is correct but at the location I mentioned, what is now a marina was once a basin for loading/unloading narrow boats and storage of goods. Probably wrong.

The No. 14 ran from Old Market Square (Smithy Row) every 15 minutes to Trent Boulevard, West Bridgford. Terminus was near what was the Leonard Cheshire Home but I think it is called something else now.

Hi,
Probably pre-amalgamation as she was in the City Police. At a guess would say 1964 - 1965.

Hi All,
Anyone remember the Police Woman, Janet Haigh I think her name was.
Married the manager of a Berni Inn, I think it was the Sawyers Arms on ListerGate.
The last I remeber of her was as joint licensee of Vernon Arms, Forest Road?
