Hi Limey... my surname is Chaplin, don't know if that rings any bells? Maybe not, as my parents originally grew up and lived in Kegworth and would have been relative newcomers to Long Eaton in 1976.

Thank you all for the replies. It's nice to know that there are other Nottinghamians not too far away from me here in upstate NY. And it would be great to have a beer with any of you that happen to pass my way on your travels. Will have to have a think about what the Rochester equivalent of "the lions" is so we can meet there.

Hello everyone, I found my way onto this forum while I was googling for photos of Nottingham during a bout of homesickness! Anyway, my name is Richard, born in 1973 and lived in Long Eaton (Tamworth Road) all my life up until 2002, when I married an American girl and ended up in Rochester, NY. I went to Long Eaton School and then did a part time Applied Chemistry degree at Trent Uni - I graduated in 1997. I worked in the labs at Courtaulds in Spondon from 1992 - 2000 and then had a couple of years working as a Chemist at PW Defence in Borrowash. I'm now working as a Scientist at Johnson
