I have a stream at the bottom of my garden and the frogs have already started arriving for the breeding season. A bit early this year.
The water attracts all sorts especially foxes. We have at least four different ones visit and one of them plays with the dog.

I have absolutely no objection to people smoking so long as they don't pollute the air I have to breath.

The only problem I find with NTL is the service which, to be kind, is bloody abysmal.
Recently, upon returning from holiday, I found a double bill as I hadn't paid the previous months bill before I went away.
As I was opening the mail, the phone rang and it was NTL asking if I wanted to pay via credit card. I said that I would prefer to send a cheque which I would do that morning. The guy agreed.
About an hour later, I found that my phone had been cut off. I contacted NTL from a friend's phone and was told that the guy I had spoken to had cut it off because I didn't want to pay by credit card. I don't have a bloody credit card.
I contacted BT and arranged for a BT line.
That afternoon I had another call from NTL and it turned out that my phone was OK for incoming but not outgoing calls. This is a very serious situation for us as my wife suffers from the Type 1 Latex Allergy which means that, should she come into contact with latex, she could go into anaphylactic s hock.
This time the young lady said that it was a courtesy call to see if I was satisfied with their service. You can imagine what I said. I told her that I had just contacted BT and she asked me to hold on while she fetched her manager. He was most apologetic and, after I told him of the allergy problem, said that I would be placed on their 'Lifeline' system which meant that, in future, nobody would be able to cut me off. He also offered me two months free line rental.
I accepted and in the next two weeks my phone was cut off four times. So much for NTL and their Lifeline system.

Thats the TBI isn't it?? (Trent Bridge Inn) One of my old stomping grounds way back in the 60's!
The TBI is on the other side of the road and on the other side of the bridge.

After a little work on the image, I came up with this:

I'll have a look at the original picture Caz and see if they're readable. Should be; its a little over 19 meg.

Looking at the water mark near the steps there appears to be a series of numbers, are they original measurements??[/b]
They are the dates of the various floods Caz.
-
I can't remember where I saw it now, but someone on this forum expressed a wish to see the high water flood marks at Trent Bridge.

Here's a piccy of the old Town Arms now 'Casa' for some God forsaken reason.

The Town Arms / Aviary is now called Casa. I'll post a photo when I've got the sorted out.

I used to live on Gate Street (back of the Crown) and cycled to central. Well remember the crowds of people going to work at Raleigh. Some time later, used to do all Raleigh's photography.
Just look at it now.

Hello Coaster, Welcome
The aviary? Would that have been 80s 90s?
Thank you. You're right about the date. Never worked that patch was always on central div.

Hello Admin..I'm still trying to find where my 'options' setting is :-)
I think I'm sort of finding my way around now..thanks. Are you still taking photo's with your digital camera? If you are then can I make a request please.
I'd love to see a photo of The Town Arms at Trent Bridge or the Rose Gardens on the Embankment if they are still there.
Or maybe a photo of the Trent wall where it shows you how high the Trent was when it flooded.
It's opposite the Town Arms and where I used to fish for tiddlers a lifetime ago.
Or a photo of the Suspension Bridge would be great too.
Any of the above would be greatly appreciated. :D

I think the Town Arms was renamed the Aviary and is now called something else. If I am correct, it's on the right just before Trent Bridge.
I'm at a wedding reception there soon so I'll take some photographs for you.
Tug Wilson, Commemorative Plaque?
in Nottingham City Centre

Just after Tug died there was a move to put some sort of memorial to him in the OMS. However, nobody thought to ask his widow if she approved. I lived just round the corner from Tug and his widow appeared at my door in floods of tears because of this. She thought that any memorial would be desecrated by the local yobs and I think she was right.
Incidentally, not all ex City men were guardsmen. In fact very few were. We were all ex servicemen though apart from the few who had been cadets.
