  1. Was he found guilty of any of these alegations?

Nope, he was'nt. But then again Sony could'nt afford to have their biggest asset locked away in Jail. You can't sell records from a prison cell, ask Gary Glitter. And when you got all that money and have access to some of the most powerful lawyers in the world and the American jury selection system you got a better than even chance of getting the result you want. And don't forget the fact that he paid Jordie Chandler's family $22 million hush money to stop 'em spilling the beans even more. Now why did he do that I wonder?

  2. Anyone out there old enough to remember the best place to go in the late 50s and early 60s,not the Palais or Colmans or the Astoria but the Locarno on St Anns Well Rd.

Oh yes. I remember it well. Nipping outside on the fire escape for a smoke and a bottle of Home Stout we smuggled in from The Britannia Inn. Those were the days

  3. Just to put my point of view to this discussion. Michael Jackson was a brilliant singer/dancer and i loved his music. As for being a peodo i never will believe that. For a start anybody who was abused as a child would never put any other kid through the same thing, and as for him sharing his bed with children its because he was like a child himself and i think very mis understood! And it is only peoples dirty minds that think it is anything else!

He was a homosexual paedophilic child molester.... end of story

    What a load of nonsense

  5. You got it right there pooh. I'm 67, a lad of the fifties nottingham. Sure we had rucks but it was controlled. Usually one to one and when it was over it was done. Big Tug Wilson usually controlled the square and everybody knew where they sttod with him

no2 The Cow in Beeston better known as the Royal Oak has closed and is to be replaced with a Tesco Petrol station.

Ok it wasn’t one of my favourite places to visit for a drink but nevertheless shall be sad to see it bulldozed to the ground like most of Beeston at the moment is, it’s to make way for the phase two of the tram system and a brand new shopping centre complex also housing another Tesco.

This new branch will be the third Tesco store within five miles radious of Beeston, we have one just up the road in Toton and another hypermarket in Long Eaton.

    thumbsdown

a quick PS, I have heard that the pub was once a Vicarage.

    Bip.

The Cow In Beeston was better known as The Manchester Unity. The Royal Oak is on Villa Street up the other end of Beeston off the high street

  7. The Flying Horse was all about redevelopment. Some property development firm came in and told the council what it would like to do with the premises at what they called a fair ground rent and rates, as they were called then. The Flying Horse owners could'nt compete with what the other firm was prepared to pay and the rest is history. Now the shops in the same spot are the most expensive in Nottingham. All the decent pubs in Nottingham have gone and been replaced with dumps. The worst thing they did was to start making them eating houses with bars. The serious pub user was driven away by kids running riot. The breweries and landlords were'nt bothered as they were making fat profits from the extortionate price of soft drinks and snacks. Then came the killer blow. The smoking ban. Now there ain't a decent pub in Nottingham, unless of course you want to buy drugs.

  8. Happy Man at Stapleford now boarded up. Not happy anymore!!!

The Happy Man is being demolished prob'ly to make way for a block of flats. The New Kent in Stapleford is shut down. Rumour is Wetherspoons are looking at it. A petition is being drawn up to save the Jaguar on Hickings Lane, Stapleford. That looks like being next. And the biggest problem in the last 2 years has been the no smoking ban in july 2007. Baz

  9. wasn't billy davies a 1960's singer? seem to recall a hit "tell him" or was it called "I know something bout love"? and used to go out with Jet Harris? Football managers are the only "workers" I know who can totally **** up, cost "the firm" £millions, virtually bankrupt them, get sacked and then often within weeks another "firm" will say "hey he's famous, lets give him a job"

    Yep. Billy Davies. 1963

  10. What was the traffic buying tropical fish for??

It was on Setanta, pay per view, I went to the pub to watch it. Not the best game I have seen but they were worthy of the draw.

Pay per view?. I got 9 months free with Setanta and then all the sport I want for £10.99 per monthy

  11. Agreed, I've always thought that his talents shown at Burton would suit a top club, I always thought he'd end up in charge of Forest though, plenty of time for that I expect, knowing these fickle clubs.

I agree. Should be a coupla good games coming up soon. Cup & League. I wish him good luck, except when they play Forest.

  12. I tuned into Radio Nottingham via the internet to listen to the match, I can't believe it, there's now only 2 minutes left and Forest are still 3-0 up, they're playing out of their skins, pity it wasn't the ITV featured match, I shall look forward to seeing the highlights tonight.

Well done Reds, they ain't going to lose this one, I'm looking forward to seeing the looks on the pundits faces on BBC TV results.

The whistle has just blown, amazing result against whats supposed to be the worlds richest club.

Can't figure it out can you.?. This is the team that's played crap all season then turn on a display like this. OK, So Man City ain't the bees knees but they did'nt even try. Still, credit where it's due. Well done Forest. Let's have some more performances like this and get further away from the relegation zone and overtake Derby, which should'nt be hard to do. Come on you Reds. Baz

  13. Is it me or are all the so called "artists" who were manufactured on the X factor manic depressives?

I'm listening to Lincs FM at the moment and they have just played this Leona bird and the Alexandra birds latest offering for Christmas, I am now NOT looking forward to Christmas because I feel too suicidal after hearing them pair start off missing half the words because they can't reach high notes whilst "singing" quietly and they finish off by shouting and screaming like some East enders actress on speed, At least Peter Kay's offering has some meaning and happiness to it

    Where's the Valium? Rog

Listening to Leona Lewis & Alexander Burke is more depressing than being at a funeral and god help us if Take That let that shithead Robbie Williams back. All he's after is the limelight 'cos he screwed up in the states. Baz

  14. My 2 lads are respectively manager and assistant manager at New Venture club(formerly Ericsson, Plessey, Siemens) and from all accounts it won't be going much longer. HSBC who own the premises have told them they need the land for development and in consultation with Broxtowe council have offered to build a new club further down the Rylands on the football field which New Venture/Plessey own. It won't be the same

  15. Whoever the guest was thanks for reminding me that I had taken a snap of the Cow in Beeston after it had been leveled........the site is still awaiting developement.

The only two things that remain are the bus stop and the lamp standard.

While in Beeston today 18-12-08 the labour exchange across the road from the multi story car park was being ripped apart by a man in a large machine.

I think Pet Mark is still hanging in there....

    Bip.

    BeestonNov08007.jpg

Petmark has shut down. Just waiting for the bulldozers then Tesco can get busy building

  16. I used to babysit at Ginevers...."upstairs"

Man Unity became the Beech Tree ( named after the big 'beech tree' in the car park ) ( still there )..and then the 'cow at beeston'......knocked down for a tecos but thats not gonna happen now so yet another foul up in beeston.

Looks like the Tesco is gonna happen. They had to resubmit plans for the car park
