  1. Feel free to post them in the aviation stuff we have going.

It's not the first flight for the Vulcan, she did a few airshows last year, I was lucky enough to see her at Southport, unfortunately she had a run of bad luck during the season leading to a lot of cancellations, better luck this year !!

Will do when I'm done scanning (such a monster task) and I figure out how.

Now I know the Vulcan is flying again I'll keep my eyes/ears open

  2. Funny thing Dave, the storms was split into two sections, one lot in Arkansas and the other in Missouri, it was starting to merge, then hit the Ozarks, which split it completely. So we just saw flashes of lightning and nothing more.

We don't have air conditioning Dave! We do use ceiling fans though!!

    The Ozarks?

A dear friend of mine that I've got to know on a work related forum is from those parts. Havent seen him online in a couple of days... is everything ok there?

  3. Is this the first flight of the Vulcan since the 80's/90s? I'd love to see/hear that beastie fly again

I used to be a regular air-show-goer until the kids were born. All over the country, RAF and USAF bases. Got some great photos that I'm currently working through scanning.

  4. Thanks Bamber,

I cant remember trains using the line... but I'm pretty sure my mum does. I know she refused to buy a house down a couple of roads in WB because there would've been trains running at the bottom of the garden (I think she had visions of derailments or me clambering up the embankment and wandering onto the line) I do remember the bridges, and remember them being removed... and near the school there was a little corner shop just before the bridge (I cant remember the name of the shop) but thats now gone as has the rest of the terraced houses that used to be there. (its now a car park for the new houses theyve built)

  5. My boys would LOVE that skate park. I dont think we have one around here.

In West Bridgford we've started having a "farmers market" and it seems to be very popular. I'd never seen it advertised at all. I just happened to be on Central Avenue one Saturday and couldnt work out why it was so busy

  6. I'm feeling a little isolated here......welcome Quicksilva don't forget to catch my blog every day it makes for inspirational reading...

    Bip.

You're isolated no more Bip... (though I must admit, I'd go live in the US if the chance occured)

Welcome Quicksilva (from a forum newbie too.)

  7. Can anybody help me please.

When I was a young girl going to "mucky road" infant school in West Bridgford, I can remember walking under a railway bridge, and there being a railway embankment just in front of the school. The bridge always used to seem spooky to me (as a 5 year old). There were other bridges along the old railway line too. Does anyone know when they were demolished, and what railway line used to run through West Bridgford.

These days the school looks less frightening, and the embankment gone, and houses/flats/bungalows built on the land...

    Cheers

    Tracey

  8. Thanks for the warm welcomes.

I'll add a bit to me profile in a few days... if you dont mind waiting.

I'm still finding my way round here at the moment... different forum software to what I'm used to using... (old dog, new tricks )

  9. Just joined the forum today. Been lurking as a guest for a few weeks now, but decided to jump in. Been having loadsa fun reading the posts here

I'm Tracey. I've lived in this great city all my life... I did (for a couple of years move to the Long Eaton/Sawley area, but felt more comfortable back in my old stomping grounds of West Bridgford. (via a detour of Clifton)

Anyways, gotta run, these photos wont scan themselves
