  1. Pemberton,

Unfortunately there are people that are thick/naive/greedy enough to fall for these things. Scams like these defraud millions upon millions of pounds every year.

This one is fortunately fairly obvious but some of the others a re a lot more subtle. The subtlety of the fraud is unfortunately no consolation when you lose your life savings.

I once had one with some pictures of starving children, supposedly from a priest trying to set up a mission in Darfur. Very convincing apart from the fact that is was to an e-mail address i had set up to collect these kinds of thing.

  2. Wow Mick, you are psychic too then? smile2

Pretty simple really. The number you pick at the beginning always leads to a multiple of 9. One of those mathematical quirk type things. They simply change all multiples of nine to the same symbol and then randomise the others. The symbol is different each time but always in multiples of 9.

  3. Frank, you are more than welcome, honest, i just really hope that you never lose a family member to lung cancer., or that nobody close to you has to lose a limb through arteriosclerosis through that lovely pastime of smoking.

I also hope that if they or yourself do, then there will not be some toss pott on a message board making light of the fact. I mean, to be honest, that would be just so cruel.

    Happy new year.

  4. Frank, can i just thank you for your complete and utter lack of sympathy, empathy or understanding at a time when a man has lost his life, a family has lost it's husband/father/grandfather and some people have lost a good friend.

I myself don't feel a personal loss because i did not get to meet the man who i believe saved my life by helping me quit smoking. He also provided me with the opportunity to spend the rest of my working life helping others who wish to stop, do so.

There are many MILLIONS of people across the globe who are similar to myself. So on behalf of them, again thanks for your lack of tact.

  5. Thanks for the info. Wouldn't say Burnley is more expensive Black Ice, it is just a surprise that the housing down there seems to be on a par with here. Always under the impression that to move out of this town would cost me too much money, or that for whatever we got for this house we would end up having to downsize.

Think the west side of the city would be better for work as it obviously has better road links. Am down there next week again so will have a look around the areas suggested.

I know Arnold fairly well as i used to have a customer there when i had a proper job. Did not strike me as a place i would wish to live. Not sure why.

    What is west bridgeford like?

  6. Cheers for that Black Ice, did not realise you were only just around the corner from where the clinic is based.

What is Long Eaton like as a place? I was there las weekend for a session and it seemed nice enough, new houses going up on the outskirts just next to the motorway too.

Your house sounds lovely too, you can't beat a good bit of plastcrete.

250k goes a long way down there? I was under the impression it was an expensive place to live when compared to Derby and Stoke, am i wrong or has the housing market in Burnley just gone so nuts that 250k no longer seems a ridiculous amount of money?

what are the places i really really need to avoid? You know, where the alsations walk around in pairs.

  7. As you can see, i have not disappeared, gone bankrupt or spontaneously combusted. I am however, seriously considering moving the family down to the Nottingham area.

I am looking for some advice form the residents of the city as to where is suitable for a young family? Need decent schools, facilities, low crime, open space etc.

We have a budget of about £250,000

    Any help would be appreciated.

  8. You think that's lucky, you want to see my google mail inbox, i won 14 lotteries last week alone, all of which without ever having to bother buying a ticket.

It seems that half my family, who are totally unknown to me, own almost 3/4 of the worlds oil reserve, and they keep dying in bizarre circumstances, leaving me as their next of kin to first of all pay for their funeral but in turn inherit 27.5 million (always the same figure)

I also have some good friends who are hiding in south africa in fear of their lives. they want to give me half of their money if i will just help them to get it out of the country.

I have a couple of semi corrupt bank officials who also want my help, they have, purely by chance, found unclaimed funds in dormant accounts, all i need to do is to pretend to be that person, to prove i am who i say i am i need to pay some money into one of his other accounts and presto magico, i am a multi millionaire.

A few people also want to pay me £5000 for a £35 item on e-bay. They have this problem with cash in their country, so i should bank the cheque and send them half of the money on, i can keep the rest. How kind is that?

There is a down side to all this though, it seems that in collecting all this wealth that i have become a target for thieves. Last week the Bank of America account that i don't have, and never have had, was compromised. I had to send all my log in details on to the lovely men at B.O.A. security and fraud department. It was most unfortunate because in the same week my Barclay's, paypal and Lloyd's tsb accounts were also compromised. I do hope they have not stolen all of my new found wealth before i have had a chance to spend any of it.

  9. Practically nothing in this country, a bit in South Africa, aiding and abbetting in Nigeria.

Because the baiters have obviously not fallen for the scam even when all the e-mails and phone conversations are sent to them they can't act as there is no victim. That is their excuse anyway.

Their is a site dedicated to destroying fake banks too, you will find it through 419 eater, all you do is log on to it when you are not using your P.C. too much and it keeps bombarding the bank site until it implodes (sure there is a better techy way of putting that but it is beyond me)

Join 419 eater and re4ad some of the previous scams that have been baited, they are funny as well as the serious issue of keeping them away for 90 year old pensioners.

  10. mick, if you want to bait some scammers the easiest way is to get yourself a secure e-mail address, such as g-mail or hotmail as you don't want them getting your info from your e-mail headers.

The type mugu guyman guestbook into google. This will give you a list of all the guestbooks that the 419 scammers have harvested for e-mail addresses. Leave a message in there from your new safe e-mail address and wait for the scammers to come to you.

If you don't get a response, highly unlikely, then give me a shout and you can have some of the ones i have in my "catcher account"

The best place to learn how to really wind these guys up and keep them away from real victims is 419eater.com

There are some really helpful people on there (few arseholes too) that will guide you through the basics, give you tips on how to stay safe, and help to waste as much time as possible for you scammer.

  11. Isn't that just the most weird coincidence Mick, i win the very same lottery once a week. I also have many hundreds of unknown, very rich but also tragically very dead relatives. They are all lying by the roadside in Nigeria just waiting for someone to come along and claim their inheritance. Ally 100% risky free transactions too, i just have to send them all my money through western union so they can release the body and get the documents in place.

  12. Once again i invoke the wrath of the moderators, ooops. Sorry, i am just bored of BIP following me around leaving his tiresome messages.

I am also concerned that SFW not only now seems to have placed me on a pedestal as someone to worship, he is now displacing his own twisted and deviant fantasies onto me too!!!

And i thought this place was a bit quiet and dull when i first came!!
