  1. Im awaiting a reply from the lady whose son is the guy responsible for the fundraising for the BB team, whose doo it is at The Federation club, the last Saturday in August, but Im thinking along the lines of sooner than maybe struggle to get enough people involved for The actual Dungeon reunion, we could do it there where I know that its a viable proposition.

Whats your thoughts...........up for it or not...........? You can be assured that your fave songs that were played at The Bung would be aired once again!

I still need to talk to her though, to make sure she hasnt sold out yet!

Pete, there would be room in the car park for ya Vespa!

  2. I think group site on FACEBOOK would get you a lot of interest ?

I think you are dead right!

Problem is, I cant see anything on FB that provide/?allows me to set one up.....HELP!

Chrissiec, slight confusion here re the "reserved tickets" Are you talking about the possible reunion at a venue yet to be announced, or at Westgate Suites?

  3. Keep em coming people!

I know its only in the planning stage, but obviously the numbers will be the deciding factor where we have it, too few, and it will be a non starter, having said that, as many know, I am part of the line up at the soul and Motown night at The Westgate Suites at Long Eaton, last Friday of the month, so worst case scenario, is that we agree on a date to meet up there, although as I have 2 gigs on the night, my slot isnt until 12 midnight till 1.30.

  4. IIRC Lasky's was in the Vic Centre unit subsequently rebranded as Dixon's.

I also remember seeing a Commodore PET for sale in Lind C 1975-6 and my Dad was thinking about buying one because he thought "they were the way ahead". How right he was.

My recollections of Laskys shop, was just up from Market Square, on Long Row, near to where Jaeger are situated. In fact I bought some AR speakers from there. (AR as in Accoustic Research, the American firm, not A&R Cambridge which became Arcam.

  5. We've spoken about it a few times, but I have a plan in my head, basically depends on if enough people are up for it.

Can I get a sort of roll call of people who would come.

My proposed plan (subject to a number of things) would be to try and put on a doo at a venue to be decided, and I would provide my services playing all the old Dungeon favourites.

Obviously nothing is free in this life, but my services would be free, but the room and PA hire needs to be funded.

If for example a £5 fee was applied, who would be interested?

Let me know please by just replying to this, and spreading the word verbally.

Heres hoping we can do it!

  6. Paulus I think that poster was for John Mayall's Bluesbreakers..Rik Mayall was in The Young Ones

    pete c....still riding a vespa

Ha ha! Anyway, Paulus, if you scan back a few pages, most of the names you mentioned were talked about.

  7. Hi Micky, I meant a week or three back when you were on John Holmes show, plugging your gig.

Yep, it was at a car boot, but I cant remember where, and what happened to my records at Trent was that they had been thrown away in a clean up! And yes, I still dj, not on air though, theres not enough money around nowadays!

My son is in a band called The Jet Boys, he has often played at "7", been on Rad Nottm, in The Evening Post too.

They are more punk than rock though.

    Anyway, talk again soon!

  8. Hi Paulus, fortunately I wasnt around Gabby when his suit got wet, and you are right about the colour, a very dark mustard, french mustard would be the same (ish ) colour.

And yes, Root and Jenny were there a few times, I saw Jimmy Cliff too, remember Give and Take, and King of Kings?

Some of the other acts I saw were, The Action, The Drifters, Edwin Starr, Lee Dorsey, Amen Corner, Inez and Charlie, and others I cant remember, but there was one act Mick put on called This End, they were a psychedelic act, and got boo'ed off stage!

Back then I lived in New Basford, and went to the Dungeon with a couple of older lads ( I was 14 when I went there!)they were Steve Coleman and Graham Asher, both from Basford, but we knocked around with others including Jimmy Cockayne, I think he was from Aspley? and Chris Nichols from Bestwood, In fact I remember going to his place one Friday night before going to the Dungeon, and the Otis special was on RSG.

Pete Stringfellow was good, I remember some of the regulars heckling him, saying he must be gay,or whatever phrase was used back then! ( I recall his hair being longer even back then hence that!) his reply was to line up a number of girls on stage, and he'd prove them wrong!

Ive mentioned this before, but one Wednesday night, at Goose Fair time, I was there with a lad who used to go to my school, he had worked part time on the fair around the country, and wore an ear ring, unheard of at the time, anyway, at closing time he went out the door first, and me and Graham followed, but Graham pulled me back and warned me that the mini boys were following Frank, as they turned the corner at the top of Stanford St, they got him and gave him a going over, however, Pete Lemon was nearby, and jumped in saving Frank from a bigger beating.

All that happened because there had been some bother with some guys from the fair, and they thought he was something to do with it, which he wasnt, as he had "turned mod!"

  9. Hi Paulus, I knew Gabby and Sedge, we spoke of Gabbys "Victorian " suit a while back, do you remember it, that 3/4 length thing? Mind you, I only recall 6 sleeve buttons, not 12!

We must have been going ther at the same time, well, actually I started on easter Monday in 66, but went up until it changed name/type of club, or at least I think I did! ( know what I mean!!!)

Speaking of Inez and Charlie, who I also saw there, do you remember Root and Jenny Jackson, a kind of poor mans I and C, I believe they were Jamaican.

And another name I havent heard in a long time, Jimmy Cockayne ( I think thats how its spelt) anyone know of his whereabouts?

  10. I knew Austin, in fact, one Saturday afternoon just before I went on air at Trent, he called about something to do with an investigation, if you didnt know, he became a detective in the police force.

Anyway, Darren Fletcher, who is now on 5 Live, had previously told me about how he was a bad boy years before becoming a sports journo, and it involved stealing hub caps.

Basically I got Austin to pretend he was investigating this, and set Daz up!

The "investigation" came to a sudden end when I burst out laughing, but you should have seen Daz's face, it was a picture!

Mind you, he did get me back, but thats another story.

As for our Cooper driving teacher, he was the gym teacher, and was Scottish, and took no nonsense! (did I put his name in an earlier post?)

  11. Val, apart from being colleague of his at the time , I have only good things to say about Graham. What happened was certainly not the Graham we at Radio Trent at the time knew

There are of course 2 sides to every story, I heard a side to the tale that had the whole thing happened in France, it would be termed a "Crime Of Passion" and not murder.

I dont think I should disclose in public about what allegedly happened, but would give you Grahams side of things via pm if you wish.

  12. Icarus, interesting stuff I must admit I was totally unaware of the Jaguars band!

Re the issue number, Barrat Strong's "Money" was released also in August 59, and the label number was T 54027, which is obviously 12 releases before the Mickey Woods single, but the niumber for the Nick and the Jaguars seems to not correspond with these two, any ideas why? (ie, 4 digits, not 5)
