Got off the tram at the bogs last July, Whilst waiting for a bus sat and watched the rats crossing over to the rubbish bin for food then back across the river. There were at least 8 children paddling near by.

We played a game called may I cross your shining water, where you had to do squashed tomatoes, mirrors, giant strides and fairy steps.

I can remember a shop at the bottom of Carleton Road that sold clay pipes and using them for bubbles.

I can remember my mother going to the wash house on Bath Street, beside the Victoria baths. Rows of sinks , boilers mangles and huge drying cabinets. I think you could do ironing there too.

Hi Lynn, Lived in Keyworth '62-63. didn't like the travelling and having to leave the dog all day by herself, had a good neighbour who took her out lunchtime though.

I can remember getting the dreaded brown envelope in the early 50's. Mum with the fine tooth comb and newspapers on the floor and that horrible smelling white lotion plastered on my head. No one to play with for days, it was like you had the plague. Luckily I never got another one.
