Just about to make our own whisky marmalade, seville oranges just came in to local farm shop yesterday.

I only make my own burgers too, but the meat and mince it up, and while we're on the subject of what goes in them, sausages are even worse for which bits are used.

Salami used to contain donkey meat and horse meat. I don't fancy it myself as I used to have a horse, but I love bambi burgers, which may have similar connotations for some people. They breed horses just up the road from me which are then sent to Europe for the horse meat trade. I feel sad when I go by their field, but really is that any different to a field of cows being grown for their meat, and how about those lovely little lambs that are beginning to appear again. It's all relative really. But obviously the point is these were rogue burgers.

I used to knit loads. Knitted shawls for my babies (they had one each which they now use for their own babies), layettes and all their winter woollies. Then I seemed to have no time during their teenage years but picked it up again last year and made 3 knitted advent calendars, 2 Christmas jumpers(To make them squirm ) and a Christmas cushion out of the oddments. Now onto baby things again for another expected grandchild. Love it. Very theraputic.

Well better late than never I suppose. I lived in Watnall from 1964 to 1980, my parents are still there and my grandparents used to live in the house next to the Queens Head. and owned the land behind it going right down to Long Lane. To get back to the point, my brother and I used to play where the Hall used to be, I believe it was actually demolished in 1962 and we used to play in one of the old air raid shelters that was also in the grounds. My best friend, who used to live at the pub, and I often played in the field behind where the family cemetary can still be found. And also in Bluebell
