just come back from Alfreton on the A38 onto M1, bloody great Artic, polish i think cut me and her thats idolised up, last summer bought a dashcam and here it sits in the bedroom, must figure out how to fit in the car, after watching car crash britain on the telly, i have been driving nearly 50 years, 25 of them professionaly, nobody seems to take a pride in their driving anymore, not moaning, glad to still be able to get out in car, but it is scary nowadays

Mellisajkelly #25, like to thank you for this pic, went to Aboretum school in the 50s, saw this monument every day i went, been so long forgot about it, nice seeing it again, might prompt me into visiting the arboretum again soon

i am 70 she who will be idolised 66, sometime in the not too distant future on of us will not be around, so, no matter what the cost, flowers and card now, photo, then in future the memories will be good ones, not ones of missed opportunity or forgetfulness, silly innit

remember my dad telling me about when the first trucks and men first arrived at strelley to begin the motorway, a farmer sat in the middle of the road with a shotgun refusing to let them through, i started working for Douglas Construction on the 2 small bridges just after the nuthall access road, toward Trowell services, they have my initials, TLA, scratched on the bottom of the supports. many stories i remember working there.

hi dave 48, loved the walks up the village to the church, across the bridge toward kimberley, used to park me car at the little triangle where you turn off for the sandhills for a kip, on warm days, a lot quieter then.

welcome bilboroughshirley, someone mentioned strelley broad oak pub, i lived in bilborough and worked with me dad on the strelley stretch of the M1 when it was being built, we used the broad oak on thursdays, (payday), brilliant days, got to know the irish labourers and welsh earth clearing drivers, lovely pub

had a bantam 125cc when i was 16/17, used to put me pyjama bottoms stuffed with newspaper on the back, made me feel like i had a passenger although there was no passenger seat, well i was young and silly, now im old and silly, wish i had me bike back, (and me pyjamas).

Hi, MargieH, i would go back to when i was 19, and apologize the Valerie, the girl who thought i was the best, (silly girl), and i treated like s--t, she looked a little like Natalie Jackson, sport girl on Midlands news 18:30hrs. if i hadn't been so up meself i think we would have been a wonderful couple, constantly think about her nowadays

hope it is, wonder if any of you have read Edward Marstons Railway Detective Novels, one of them, 2nd i think, talks about a train on a viaduct, always imagine this picture of Forty Bridges when reading it, these were magnificent structures.
