#18 - I think the reference to 'a coach firm Black and Whites Clarks' in #13 is to Clark's of Epperstone, who had a black and white livery.
It was Black & White of Cheltenham who ran express services to Huntingdon Street.

Yes, that 33C being in that part of the bus station indicates the photo was taken on a summer Saturday when its usual bay would have been occupied by all the extra coaches on such as Barton's Skegness service.

Could very well have been 1964 - certainly around that time.

Does Ronnie Hilton in the Theatre Royal pantomime one year count?

The X53 was introduced in the late 1960s and ran from Nottingham to Sheffield. I remember it ran via Bulwell, but forget the rest of the route. I don't ever remember it being operated by double deckers, but of course that's not to say it never was. I travelled on it occasionally and saw it frequently in the time from when it first started running (this photo probably dates from 1969) until I suppose about 1973 or so. No doubt double deckers could have appeared on it after that date.
The non-standard pink lower portions of this Leyland Leopard, by the way, were just a one-off - it was running around partly in undercoat for some reason.

These were West Bridgford Urban District Council buses which ran from the Market Square to West Bridgford and Broad Marsh to Clifton. They ceased running in 1968 when they were taken over by Nottingham City Transport. I assume you're referring to the latter by a 'beige and olive green' livery. Not just plain green and cream?

As well as the sandwiches we invariably had bread rolls cut in half with potted meat on them.

Lemon-coloured lemonade (Hole's of Newark again).

Strawberryade.
Although I only ever remember it being made by Hole's of Newark. Very volatile stuff - you had to unscrew the stopper slowly or it would all come fountaining out of the top.

Yes, I think the repainting into the 'brighter' livery was done in the 1963/64 period. Maybe started in 1962, I can't remember.

At High Pavement in the 1960s no-one wore a school cap after the first few months they were there. It was the same with the posh new leather satchel - you soon replaced it with a khaki haversack to be like everyone else.

Never went in the tea room, but Judges used to make great pork pies - ordered a large one every Christmas. They also had a shop on Mansfield Road in Sherwood.

My son is a big fan of Top Gear.
My son is aged 14.

And there's a connection with High Pavement too - my best mate in the Raleigh Labs was Richard (Dick) Chambers. Did you know him? He may have been a year ahead of you though.
That name doesn't ring a bell, sorry. I remember Julian Gaylard had a nephew about a couple of years younger than him who was at High Pavement at the same time.

Is that the one at Filton?

I never saw those at all, never mind any more.

You can still buy Caramac.

It was still on the radio in the early 1960s - the Light Programme, I'm sure - I remember 'Paul Temple and the Jonathan Mystery' with Marjorie Westbury as Steve. Can't remember if it was still Peter Coke.

York House

Just come across this old photo of mine (1970s) showing York House in the background of this National Express (Trent) Bristol RE about to turn into the then Victoria Bus Station.
