The musical theme for 1988 continued with 'La Boheme' from Opera North and finished with another Arts Council-subsidised company in December with New Sadler's Wells Opera giving performances of 'The Gondoliers' and Offenbach's 'La Belle Helene'.
Surprisingly I remember nothing of the former despite former D'Oyly Carte' stalwart John Ayldon in an unfamiliar role. Theatre was under three quarters full.
I can remember some of the music from the Offenbach, and disappointingly the theatre was only about half full.

I was referring rather to the performance of the England team.

Garbage, total utter garbage. I'm glad that I don't watch telly !
I assumed at first you must be referring to the Test Match last week.

Mind you, the Daily Mail often does make things up.

If you scroll back several pages you'll see a few references to John Hanson - 'The Student Prince', 'The Desert Song', and a production of 'Rose Marie' which featured Su Pollard in her pre-TV star days.

Back to musical theatre again in October 1988 with some Ivor Novello whose works, as with 'Salad Days', seem now to have sadly dropped out of sight.
Admittedly with no stars in the cast (no John Hanson any more) few enough turned out to this show on the night I was there - only about a quarter full, so as usual it was the Upper Circle for me.
Several hit songs in the show - 'We'll Gather Lilacs' probably being the biggest, although interpolated from 'Perchance to Dream', plus 'Some Day My Heart Will Awake' and 'Take Your Girl'. Also interpolated was 'Glamorous Night'.

Thanks, In all my years in Nottingham I never travelled on a South Notts bus.
Here's one, photographed at Huntingdon Street in 1968. Sorry it's a bit fuzzy. A different type to the vehicle visible in the above photo I think.

For some reason I missed the first of the four plays in the usual summer rep' season but that left 'Scales of Justice' by Peter Saunders, 'Murder on the Nile', which apparently was Agatha Christie's own adaptation for the stage of 'Death on the Nile' (minus Poirot) and 'Dial M For Murder' - always worth seeing.

Musical theatre of a very different kind came the following month with the early 1950s musical that sadly nowadays seems to have dropped out of sight. Although with no stars in the cast it deserved a larger audience than the quarter full house on the night I was there, with my Balcony ticket securing admittance to the Dress Circle.
I thoroughly enjoyed it, with two catchy songs including:

You can keep your Janacek!

But something else (although not necessarily visible in that photo) that they had in those days as a result of horse-drawn traffic.

More opera, with Opera North's extended visit in June 1988.
I gave the Janacek piece a miss and also 'Tosca' because it was given in Italian, but enjoyed the other two. Theatre was practically full for both.
One of Opera North's book-style programmes - certainly plenty to read in the intervals!

I think the situation with Photobucket is that your photos are still there, and you can continue to upload photos there free of charge.
What's changed is that they are now charging you to get your photos to appear on sites like this one. If you don't pay then your Photobucket photos won't appear any more, but they will still be there on Photobucket - subject to any changes in the future of course as caftan implies!

Later in the month saw the first visit by the revived D'Oyly Carte Opera Company. Although still the same organisation - and still without any public subsidy - it was on a very different basis, with only two operas being performed in the week instead of five or six. Also, with a frequently changing stable of singers (with just a very few who had been with the 'old' company).
Houses were a bit better than three quarters full.

May 1988 and an Alan Ayckbourn comedy about which I can remember nothing. Theatre was about a third full.

I used to see quite a bit of the Broad Marsh Centre in the 1990s when working nearby, plus when walking to the station and I thought it was fine then with all the shops as mentioned earlier. Certainly went there more often than the Victoria Centre compared to when I lived in Sherwood prior to moving to Bulwell and could get off the bus there when going into town - after that it was always more out of the way as far as I was concerned.

I wouldn't be too quick to close PB accounts, especially if this means that all images will be deleted. If this happens then they will disappear from the threads. As I have reported, it seems that personal jpeg images (not images from a third party) seem to be safe. If this really is the case then leave them there but don't add to them. As I said, the PB message came into my Chrome laptop inbox but it did not go to my desktop PC with Windows (every message received always goes into both). I think, therefore, that the problem so far as NS is concerned is that most members are using laptops and tablets.
I use a desktop PC, and as is evident all my Photobucket photos have disappeared from Nottstalgia anyway even though I haven't closed my account with them,so I don't think doing so would make any difference to what's already happened.
But as you say, may as well leave the photos on Photobucket as a sort of backup. I backup all my photos onto a USB stick every night and also into 'the cloud' (with BT) but it's always useful to have an extra one. But also as you suggest, I won't be adding to them on Photobucket as the only reason I did so was for them to appear on here.

Camm's used to have at least one vehicle with a dorsal fin body, I think on an AEC Reliance, but can't remember for certain.

Merthyr Imp #181 A quid! they are over three and a half times that in Oz. Are we being ripped off or what?
I suppose they add in shipping costs. Is there no Australian-manufactured equivalent, e.g. like Marmite and Vegemite?
I must say I wouldn't pay £3.50 even for the plain chocolate variety!

The end of October 1987 saw Opera North's visit, but with a glossy booklet rather than a normal programme I'll skip an illustration of it. I only went to see 'The Marriage of Figaro' (a full house).
More opera came at the beginning of December with New Sadler's Wells Opera, a company that was more or less filling the void left by the demise for the moment of D'Oyly Carte. The production was 'H. M. S. Pinafore', with Nickolas Grace in the cast. I'm surprised to realise I can remember nothing of it.

October 1987, and a very good comedy about a theatrical company performing a comedy, first seen from the front then backstage.
Gerald Flood turning up again.

Tunnock's Tea Cakes (pack of 6) are £1 in Tesco. Personally, I prefer the plain chocolate variety which I have to go to Poundland for.
The Nestle's Walnut Whips have not had a nut inside for many years.
Re Duncan's, I remember in our pub in the mid-1950s we sold bars of nut chocolate made by Duncan's rather than the usual Cadbury version.

Another thriller in September 1987 - by Francis Durbridge. As usual I remember nothing of it. Not many there - only about a quarter full and it was the usual Balcony for Upper Circle for me.
Presumably the licensee of The Stage Door was THE Larry Lloyd rather than A Larry Lloyd otherwise there would have been no point in mentioning it:

Into 1989 and a classic by Emlyn Williams - although as usual I can remember nothing of it.
Only some minor TV names in the cast, perhaps leading to a desperately poor turn out of less than a one fifth full theatre. My Balcony ticket getting me in the Dress Circle.
