Does anybody remember anything about a Nursery opposite a bowling Green on Conway road carton. I'm talking approx 43 years ago. It was a big house with a long drive going up to it
well it seemed long to me, I was only three?

Sorry I've not got back to you sooner, just realised you replied, just getting use to this site, ha ha
Being stuck outside an aviary with a migraine sounds more like a punishment!! Ha ha
Thanks for all that info, I don't remember to much about it because I was so young
Tell me, was they a fish pond somewhere in the school grounds? I have vivid memories of being pulled out of one several times but not sure where.

you mentioned the aviary kirky in your post on welldon school and i replied to that but thought i would mention on here a little moreabout that if you were ill at school you whent to see miss huston bioligy teacher and if she felt you were really not well you would be put on little camp bed with a cver over you outside the aviary it was surposed to be a quiet area untill home time or someone came to pick you up what a joke i suffered badly with migrains during my early teens so often would end up up there first the birds drove you mad with there cherping then in btween lessons all the girls going backwards and forewards talking comming to see who it was in the sick bay noprivicy at all one day i remmember being realy sick you had to use a bucket or if tou could get to the sinks across the corridor as i said in other post only toilets were outside only one block of about 12 toilets to about 250 girls so there were always long quees at breaks and lunch times and often unless you were lucky and got there earlyyou could not get in and of course you were in trouble if you were late back to class or asked to go during lessons thats one reason i did not mind doing the staff drinks as you could nip into staff toilets before or after breaks hopping none of the staff came and caught you.

But I'm now working in London? Ha ha, get home every weekend though.
Are you in Chesterfield now? How's things?

Mick out of him, ha, i think he use to work on the Buses?

Not sure about a David cross, but seems to much of a coincidence for him not to be related to Carol.

The72 and 26 buses use to stop at the bottom of this drive,
I can remember Leon,
They was Trev Bellshaw who lived 2 doors up from the co op,

My dad was 4, ft,6.
I can remember Fred being so tall.
We got chased out the orchard by some bloke who now I assume was the perv your on about, glad I was a fast runner, ha
Did you know anybody up the top end of Cavendish road, or on Coningsworth?
-
Russia! !! That's it, your brilliant, that's been bugging me for so long. Can you remember the orchard? Nice plums, ha ha
You may be about the same age as my brother, Ian kirk, don't know if you know him or not.
-
Sorry to hear that about Fred, that's no age
I think your right about him not being an hells angel,
I can remember, my dad also did the security at the Saturday night Disco, and with him only being 4ft.6 if they was any trouble, Fred was always their to sort it out. Bless him
-
It was sue Wilson, not Janet!!

The only Wilson I knew was Andy, had a sister i think was named Janet, not sure about that though? They lived at the top of Cavendish.
-
Opposite Belper avenue, they use to be a little footpath that led to the back of the golf course and on to foxhill , before the golf course was their, they were orchards and fields, have you any idea what we use to call that area? Because it's doing my nut in, haha.
-
Can you remember Mr Cauthorne who owned the newsagents near you, and the crofts who ran the post office next door, they had two daughters, Alice and Susan I think they were called
I have so many memories of carlton girls school, as I said before, my dad was the caretaker to we lived in the school house,
That house was so big inside. And I think the prefects used one of our rooms for some reason? Like a common room or something?
-
Your right, Stephen etches, that was the guy, his dad use to always stand at the gate smokin.
And as regards the marriots, they were three different families at Frank Wheldon, two of them lived over on valley Road, just up from the Carlton hotel but neither were related
My brother use to hang around with Jimmy on Cavendish road, and Fred, which I found strange at the time, because if I remember, wasn't Fred an Hells Angel as they were called then? And my
Brother had a lambretta?
They use to always go to the disco at the forum on a Saturday night, and always end up fighting (not with each other of course haha)
-
Piggy and babs, can you remember a guy who would've lived near you called woody, I never knew his real name but his mum use to look after me when I was little.
-
Didn't the Marriots live on the opposite side to the news agents?
And didn't one of them die in a car crash?
Can you remember Fred Dannoon
Can you remember the bird aviary they had at Carlton girls, on the top floor? So many questions!!
It's all coming back to me now!!! Ha ha
-
Just noticed the dates that somebody last posted something on here,
I always was the one behind, haha.
-
Hi everyone, I used to live in the school house at carlton girls and Frank Wheldon schools,
My farther was the cartaker at both schools
I realise it's been a long time since any of you posted anything on here so it's a shot in the dark,
I use to work at the Forum and play on the Alps as a kid, happy memories,
I was in Newstead house when Mr Cappendale was house master.
Be nice to hear from anyone who was around at that time. -
