Thanks for that Barclaycon - for a moment I thought it was just me getting old and grumpy - glad I'm not alone here. Needless to say, ticket prices.
The most I have ever paid was $90.00 per ticket that I bought off of EBAY - because Brigitte wanted to see Billy Idol again, after we had just left the Billy Idol with Steve Stevens concert in Hannover, Germany.....she was so happy and talked about it all the way home - and to which I have no regret. It was worth every dollar spent to see the second concert.....and yes the seller on EBAY was honest and sent us the tickets. Perfect.
I guess all I can say at this point, is make sure that if you really want to see the band you like - do your research as to who is presently in the band, check ticket prices, the day of the week they're playing - before laying out your hard earned money. Most of all, have a great time!

Just my opinion - When I go to a concert these days, I don't want to see a guitar player playing with his teeth, between his legs, behind his back, his neck or throwing his guitar around. Spitting is also out - punk is over. It's all been done - give me a Joe Bonamassa any day of the week.

I used to take time for granted. Now the years slip by faster. My parents are in their 80's with weakened bodies and fading memories.
Baby's I once knew, are now having babies of their own. In short, everyday is now a blessing.....it's the calm before the storm, enjoy it while it last.

I can enjoy AC / DC - Van Halen and Aldo Nova - I even have two slade albums. Ozzy, Black Sabbath and Judas Priest are all right too.
We are getting old, but I wanted to see music progress, but it keeps back-dating to the top 40 hits of the 60's and 70's and yes the "Big Hair" 1980's. Mr. Big and Billy Sheehan - Paul Gilbert......Imagine Black Sabbath with the number one CD in England ! Good for them I say, and if I were them - that's it - end it on a high note and go out proud and never to be forgotten.

Ya know Barclaycon, one day not long ago, I was sitting here in a foul kind of funk mood - just thinking about the musicians who have died along the way. So I took a piece of paper, and just off the top of my head, I counted around 120.....then I stopped. In one way it makes me very sad, and in another way I'm very thankful that I got to witness their coming and going. Their talent is still with us, and those they inspired are still playing in their memory.

Just listening to The Who Live At Hull 1970 - and before that Live At Leeds remastered. The best two Who concerts ever recorded.
Which one is better - is a personal matter. Leeds is more to my liking - being I'm older these days. Hull is for the 15 to 35 range, more high energy and changes in performance. Hull is also a much faster pace.

My view on the Rolling Stones. I've always liked them over the years, I respect them all. Their music holds up very well over the years, and my favorite Stones albums are: Let It Bleed and Get Your Ya Ya's Out. Keith and Mick are great song writers and excellent performers...they do make it all look so easy. Mr. Barclaycon, I too have to disagree with you on this one. They still are what they always were in the beginning, a great rockin blues band with soul. I've seen bands just going through the motions, and it's boring to watch let alone listen to. I've also seen newer band that bore me to death, using the same tricks from yesterdays bands. I propose the question, if you were say, Mick or Keith, and you really didn't want to be there - would you be there? No amount of money, fame, press time - would be insentive enough to make you do something you don't want to do. At least that's my feeling. They were once the bad boys of rock and roll - now they've mellowed is all.
Their remastered cd's don't excite me as much as the Beatles do. The Beatles sound fresh new and polished. The Stones sound flat, dull and dated....but always sound good on AM radio.
Look at The Who for example, great show, great music and explosive on stage. Four guys who belonged together in the true spirit of rock and roll. Raunchy, violent and brilliant of mind. Roger the, get me back to my hotel in time for my tea.. Pete is Pete the brooding loner.. Keith and John, could never sit still, and they were, friends of the fans. Four grains of sand - making one pearl of a band.
I guess it all comes down to, could we imagine a world without the Rolling Stones being on tour somewhere? Mick and Keith could not, and would not be replaced.....now the question is, would they ever shut it down on their own, or just keep doing one last final, end all tour, as they keep doing? If the people keep on paying for tickets, coming to their shows and have the passion to keep the band working and alive, I say rock on and god bless ya. Where have all the good times gone!
Just in passing - I saw a cd cover the other day, with an old man on it, and I thought to myself, what's this guy all about, so I stopped and had a look - it was Eric Burdon.

I just bought the newly released Who At Hull CD on ebay. You can find it there for as low as 11:99 - I bought it for $13.00 from a dealer I trust.
It's suppose to be better than Live At Leeds according to Roger and Pete. Live at Leeds, February 14th and Hull on February 15th.
Pete remastered it, and made corrections from place to place in the performance, as the first few songs were missing from the original recording. "Edit Job" by Pete himself, and that's good enough for me - it's a two cd set....the second cd is Tommy performed live.

Went out with my girlfriend Brigitte this afternoon. Rowed a boat around a moor (little pond) here. Sunshine, beautiful weather, and ate dinner outside at our favorite place for a few hours.....today will be one to remember....my wish - that all of the rest of you here had a great day too.

Yes Poohbear, it's the "New Normal" - "Too Big To Fail" ..... as an American, we were sold down the river a long time ago. Our rights used to hold power and respect, that power now is just an echo and have been rendered worthless. How about that BS Obama "Health Plan"?
If I say too much truth here - some grumpy old men on this site, demand facts and figures.....they remind me of the old Faces song.....

Hello Bubblewrap.....I had the original SJH record album at one time....and other than I Put A Spell On You....nothing else stood out at all.
That one song made it for him, and the covers were all good from what I've heard over the years. I'd like to turn you on to what I consider to be a great album...on CD and worth the price. Leslie West "Alligator"...he does a verson of I Put A Spell On You....what ya got in the bag lady (not) like itch but with a B. I never got tired of that album, very rare these days. I met Corky and Leslie a few years ago - great guy - and even shook his hand while he was on stage. The next morning we found ourselves riding on the same train together.

May I conclude that you folks are not at all impressed with your NHS? I'm happy with any health insurance, if I die before they get to me so be it.
I could spew out my anger here for an hour or two, but no need. Back in the States, the lower income folks go to the hospital for everthing and not to their doctor - they can't afford a doctor.....the system is a mess - need an operation, you find the best doctor you can - then insurance tells you to get a second opinion in writing - then they'll only pay the lesser amount of the two you submitted. In the good old days, my father was on the family health plan....it paid at least 80% and most times the entire bill. Enough said.....be happy with anything rather than nothing at all----safe to say. I'ts only going to get worse.

We were in Paris in April for the Johnny Winter - Tribute to Alvin Lee (sort of) concert. Brigitte and I took a tour bus around the city, to see the sights. I went top-side in the double decker bus, and thanked god-almighty that I wasn't driving. Glad you had a good time at The Who concert, a hell of a lot better than going to a Rolling Stones concert in my opinion.

Alvin called Lorraine "The Wild One" - they met when she was just 18 years old. She was with him at Woodstock 1969 - and Alvin wrote the song "I'm Going Home" for her - she says. I think you came close with her last name, it's "Burgon" I think)....she was also known as "Vicky Page" as head of the Alvin Lee / Ten Years After fan club - that's the way she signed the news-letters. She also made the flowery pants he wore at Woodstock, out of the drapes Alvin's mum had in the house - that fringe on the bottom is where that came from.
BTW - one of Alvin's women also had a pet snake - she took around with her....just may be Lorraine as well. Just a guess.

Taking my handicapped friend, who is in a wheelchair, out every Saturday night for his beer and pizza. The time we spend together is the best part of the week for both off us. You should see the smile on his face when I enter his house, the glow on his face, and sparkle in his eyes.
Heart to heart and soul to soul - laughing together for a few hours!

Wonderful insight Mr. Churchill had, he was no dope, and Americians had a great deal of respect for the man - they called "Black Dog".
I was reading a book called, "Life As Sutch" by Screaming Lord Sutch" - and old David Sutch was giving his memories of old Winston, when David was a youngster looking up at the great man himself - David said the thing he remembered the most about Sir Winston, was when he put his cigar out on my arm. (with a grain of salt if you please).
Roy Harper wrote the best song ever, called "The Black Cloud Of Islam" from his album called "Once" - you can google the lyrics if you like, it says it all for me. The whole Islam affair reminds me of the song by Sly and The Family Stone - "Everyday People".
As for me personally, people are people where ever you go, I take them as I find them and treat them accordingly......I never judge a book by the cover, it's a waste of time....I just want the truth that hides inside the person, and then go from there. And if you'll excuse me for this, for Christ sake look at the background and entire setting on your national newscast.....dust, rocks, dirt, sitting on the floor, throwing stones, yelling and screaming.....about injustace - but this is what we want, they say - God Willing - drop to your knees and repent if you please how many times a day did you say? In my truth, I'm indifferent out of my own ignorance.......different strokes for different folks. Too many names and situations to remember. It's 2013 and all this misunderstanding and hate is still unresolved......I don't get it at all.
I do know this for a fact though - don't trust the American Government - it's rotten to the core, and as Mr. Hitler said, they will destroy themselves from the inside out - without anybody's help....and you see it happening everyday.

Being an American, living in Germany, my ways are very different than they practice here. Brigitte and I had to take a ride today to a town about 45 minutes away. We stopped for lunch there, and there was a elderly lady sitting by herself, I said hello and asked her to join us at our table, she said she has been alone for the last 16 years, so eating alone for her was alright. My gram always hated to eat alone, so the least I can do is offer people sitting alone our company.
At a concert in Holland a few years ago, it was colder than hell outside that night, the venue wouldn't let us come in, so we headed for something to eat in a warm place. There was this guy walking around aimlessly - I said, come with us and we'll buy you a dinner as we all waite for the concert......he didn't think twice and joined us.....all he wanted was a cup of coffee and talk about music for the next hour. We all had a great time, before, during and after the concert.......when I got back to my car, I found a parking ticket for 60.00 euros waiting for me.....a car pulled out, I pulled in, it was a Friday night......and I just payed the damn ticket.......the next time we went there Brigitte drove and she got a ticket too......no wonder everyone in Holland rides their bikes around town. The coffee shops are now also off limits - unless you live there! Just saying is all - say no to drugs!

About the Virgil Fox video. I have rarely seen such passion and reverence when playing a piece of Bach's music, the exception being Glenn Gould. I also have never seen an organ quite like this either, looking like the cockpit of a 747 jet airliner, with Mr. Fox as the wizard in full control.
I love the way he lets it ring loud and strong. I would like to see Sir Elton John, Keith Emerson or Rick Wakeman give it a go and see what they could come up with.
I also like Dennis Brain for any of his fans out there.
