Wonderful - I remember such things as a kid, and then enter self service stations and I saw first hand the changes that followed.
There are some scarce echo's of those days - but few and far between as they are. I'm proud to say that I ran a repair shop out of my grand-mothers wagon house (barn) for 37 years. My greatest pleasure came from making people happy - when they were in a jam and they needed a quick fix. I'd say, no problem - why don't you go take care of some of your other Saturday morning chores and stop back in an hour - or hour and a half, when ever you get finished. I never let them down....and with low over-head - I made them happy twice.
Another man, and I, kept crossing paths time and time again. He'd run out of gas for his car one time - he had a flat tire on the highway, I stopped to help him - didn't know him in the dark, invited him to my shop at midnight and put his spare tire on for him......and he broke a belt on his family van and pulled into the drive way, he said, hi Dave, it's me again......he was a teacher at the grade school that I attended in my youth.....he'd always offer me money, even though he was hard up in the finance department, I never had the heart to take his last $20.00.....he'd just look at me, shake my hand, say thank you every time......he then said, you remind me of a movie I saw recently - called, "Pay It Forward".......that's you he told me! Do you know the movie Katjay?

Full service gas stations.....water sir.....check your oil......check the air in your tires? It was the loss of this service, that was the beginning of other things fading away as well.

I was looking for a place to ask this question, and looking forward to your opinions.
Hard as I try, and as open minded as I am - I don't understand all the fuss made over the Beach Boys album "Pet Sounds" and also Brian Wilson's "Smile".......could someone explain this to me - without busting my balls.

I'd like to get back to the Nottingham and England in general forum. The subject for today is "Stonehenge" and a topic that relates to that and makes sense to me....in the Bible they're called "Fallen Angels" a forgotten culture of "Giants" called "The Nephilim" which puts a new light on "David and Goliath". These giant men and women stood between seven foot and taller. Their remains are found all over the world, including close to the Stonehenge - "Standing Stones" site of the dead, the local grave yard. It seems that Cro-Magnon and Neanderthal did mate and created this race of Giants. These Giants had a sloping forehead and protruding brow ridge. The Bible talks about them in Genesis 6:4 - Numbers 13:22 - 13:28 and 13:33....Joshua 11:21- 11:22 - 14:12 and 14:15.....Deuteronomy 1:28 - 2:10 - 2:21 and 9:2 - also check out the book of Enoch who was the great-grandfather of Noah. 2,000 BC also known as the "Amorites". The Nephilim DNA is also to be found in Native American Indians and has been traced all the way back to Galilee. Also known to be tall were the Sioux and Iroquois Indian Tribes. These Giants had red hair. It's also said that they were canables as they ate their dead - this according to a Pyote Indian book (it says). In a cave 60 skeltons were found. It's said that some of these Giants are the early decendents of Noah's children. Some of these Giants had horns, six fingers and a double row of teeth. It's also said that Adam was of this Giant race. As the people moved from the east coast to the west coast, they found these dead Giants to be 9 to 11 feet tall - buried with a 27 pound axe-head. Other giants found were 7 feet four inches tall - 9 feet tall and 18 feet tall.

My advice - check out google photo search, and see for yourself the size of these Giants from the past......it's reported that they are the mystery behind the building of Stonehenge. They roamed the Bibilical Lands to the British Isles.

Mama Cass did a wonderful cover of - "The In Crowd".....I love listening to it.....it's a real surprise - if she did it with the Ramsey Lewis Trio back then, what a treat that would have been. She has the right feel - sings so clear and holds the notes so well - dynamic and not powerful.

Please check out David Adair. He says the UFO ships work on a a symbiotic system, between the pilot and the craft. The craft is half organic and half machine. In an hour and a half they can travel from their base light years away, and be on earth and then return the same day. The craft also is kind of leather to the touch....built from materials once unknown to mankind - but now used to construct the bombers in the 1980's Stelth (spelling).
And yes, they do get hit while in flight, there are repair bases on earth - parts centers, where they are repaired and sent on their way within a week or less. They travel through worm-holes.....at the speed of thought - faster than the speed of light.....don't ask me! Math, Science and Spelling are not my forte. I started with a $20.00 little am / fm radio with turn-table on top. Next came a Macy's stereo built in turn-table, two seperate speakers, my first stereo. Then with $500.00 in hand, I bought a Fisher 203 amp / tuner (long Island) - 8-track player - two speakers (unknown brand) and a turn-table. Got a job and a brand new stereo - Pioneer SX-750 - two tempest speakers made by ESS company - Heil - Transducer - Pioneer PL-117-D turn-table - SX-2300 - reel to reel. This was 1974 - 1975 - 1976.

I was so much younger then.........not the best sound system in the world - but everything I need or could want.

I called my father on fathers day in America last Sunday. - Here in Germany, fathers day was a month ago. My father will be 85 in August, he's got memory loss, but still knows my mother sister and I. He has nothing to do - they sold their house, and twelve acres of land with it and moved into a beautiful apartment. Now his big night out is going to play BINGO witth my mother. He and I are like oil and water, always have been - but that's over now, love wins out in the end.

In one way I'm so glad that I started this topic, in another way I found what I was looking for, and in the end I'm kind of sorry it has to end.
I want to thank all of you for your thoughts, ideas and opinions. It meant a lot to me to read your comments. It does concern me that some of you want proof in hand, while others are opened mined and really don't know what to think. Both views are of course correct.....the Holy Book, and its teachings say, you should have the eyes of a child, and see things as such - simple, easy and free. I support that position.
It's now with much thanks that I request the owners of this wonderful website, to please remove this entire topic from our sight, it's served its purpose. There are many other topics here to talk about.

I was just wondering if you kind folks in Nottingham had any plans to remember Alvin Lee's passing in a monument sort of way? Giving respect to your local music hero who rocked the world over, but never forgot his roots. It would just seem fitting and proper in his memory!

When the Doors toured Europe in 1968 with Jefferson Airplane, and Jim Morrison by show time was out of commission due to drink and drugs, it was Ray Manzarek who saved their set by doing Jim's part and his own as well. He was hunched over the keyboards, and singing "come on baby light my fire" sounding very much like Jim himself. No problem from the audience.
After Jim's death on July 3, 1971 and given a few years in between, Ray, Robbie and John worked on what was to become, "An American Prayer" released in 1978. Much of the material was recorded on Jim's birthday, he was given studio time as a present. An album made for Jim the poet.

According to her lecture, her friend (CIA / FBI / NSA) saw the video tapes, and informed her about the unmarked vans coming and going during the days she stated - the time being 3:00am to 5:00 am ask your friend about that time frame and the video tape on those days. Also in answer to your question, I don't know where she was during that time period, although by not coming up with the answers her boss wanted - to keep his boss happy, she took away the Whitehouse's Plausible Deniability.
To Mr. Smith, look for yourself at the internet, for those who don't agree with your opinion....you'll find names such as Charlie Sheen, Bob Graham, Senator Bob Graham, The 9/11 Truth Movement (friends and familes) The Arizona State Senate espousing demolition theory and supporting a reopening of the 9/11 investigation. The 9/11 Commission Report Omissions and Distortions by David Ray Griffin.
As to your question about the families not demanding the investigation be opened again - aren't they being paid off by or living on government monies. There is a voice demanding truth and facts be known - the US government isn't about to do that and expose their evil doings.
Lorie Van Auken says only 30% of their questions were answered by the commission....Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth want the case reopened as does Michael Moore.
The facts should be plain to your common sense - no building Free Falls without an added energy source to increase that outcome.
I'm perplexed as to what added facts you desire to prove to your liking that something evil happened on 9/11 directly caused by our government.
I'm beginning to think that Ian Anderson was right about his thick as a brick country-men.

Hi LizzieM - we had a summer camp way up in the mountains of New York State. There was an air-force base at Plattsburg, N.Y. - this was 1970 and at 8:00 in the morning the super-sonic jets were on their test flights, right over our heads - sounding as if they were slightly above the tree tops.
Needless to say, when they went faster than the speed of sound - it would make your heart skip a beat and scare the breath right out of you, with that sonic-boom.....rattling the brand new windows my father just installed. So I know exactly what you mean!
