  2. Thank you, it was late 1950's it has a listing in the archives as chez Pierre 1959. I'm looking for the name of a Mr peters who apparently owned the place and possibly of Greek orgin.

Hi all I've just spoke to my uncle from Nottingham he said the man in after is called Mr peters but the restaurant was over on bridlesmith gate and the restaurant was called le shapier that is probably not how you spell it at all, just wondered if anyone has any idea or remembers it at all ? I know that restaurant doesn't sound Greek at all so I'm really confused 😩

  8. Thank you for all your replies I definitely think El Greco is the restaurant I was after. But the spelling of his name Elias Cerese what I have could be wrong. So going to look into the restaurant name further and see what I can come up with. But thank you all so much for your replies

  10. Hello just wondering if anyone has any info regarding El Greco restaurant in Nottingham, I know it was a long time ago just would like to find out more about the Greek family that ran it. Could possibly be related to myself. Anything even the smallest details would be greatly appreciated

  12. No my dads birth father could be elias. No in the adoption file it says that my dads birth mother worked at elias restaurant and I think there may have been seeing each other so I think my biological grandmother weren't sure if this elias was definitely the father but my dad and myself have very dark olive skin.

  15. Yeh that age sounds about right, long shot but maybe the marriage broke down due to his alleged affair with my dads biological mother.   16. Thanks catfan yes my dad isn't very tall either. That's right I know he had a wife I doubt very much he would b alive now but I'm sure there's siblings out there, do you know what happened to the restaurant or any of them? Thank you so much for replying

  21. Hello I'm sorry I haven't been able to reply I had to take time out of my search sadly my nan was diagnosed August 13 with terminal cancer. So all my focus went to her sadly we lost her. But Im trying to carry on with my search. Thank you for some of your comments I'll look into them names. My dad was adopted he was born in Nottingham in his records state that his father could be a Greek restaurant owner, my dad was born early 1960. His name was Elias that's all I know.
