thanks for that, I lived in Kirks buildings but I don't recall lil page it was such a lon time ago I lived there from 1941 to about 1952 A few names come to mind Daykin, Ludlow, Night, Kings, forman, Newton lived next door Thorley the other side.
Dunlevy owned our cottage.

I have my beautiful border collie in a dog coffin, cost a lot of brass but worth every penny. she had the best life a dog could have. sometimes you think she should be in the fields chasing sheep, but surely giving her a good home is better than where she came from dumped at the side of the road luckily near the vets, where i rescued her from. (so very sad)

My next door neighbour has a rover and would you believe it has a choke, he had it from new, its only done about forty odd thousand miles, probably worth about a tenner at the end of the day, its had a new head gasket, serviced and mot every year, in the last fifteen years its done about twelve miles a week.

I remember the row of houses they stood high and back from the main road i believe they stretched from the Nags head pub up to the orchard, I remember a mrs Tunnercliffe who lived there. Further up pass the orchard was another row of houses opposite Kirks beeroff which had steps leading up to them I was there when a little lad ran from the steps and was run over and sadly killed, I believe was the son of a Mrs. whittiker. it must have been about 1950.

Catholic school carlton Hill and National School Carlton Hill
We was only juniors but we used to shout Proddy Dogs and they'd shout back Cat Lick Saucers And yet I went to the catholic school and i was a prodestant, typical of kids in them days.
