I used to get the 39 from Carlton to town and back,I was about 16/17 and working in various factoies as a machinist. There used to be a certain bus conductor who just wouldn't stop pestering me for a date,I already had a boyfriend so I kept saying no.,it was funny really cos if my boyfriend got on the bus the conductor didn't take his fare on purpose ,so that he would be told off for not having a ticket.

Believe it or not I have the old blackboard where teams wrote the scores for darts from that very pub,it's in the cellar collecting dust.My daughter rescued it when it was thrown out.

I think this pub has now gone and been made into a house or flats.

I wanted my kids to learn to swim so they could enjoy swimming and learn how to be safe in water,Never learned to swim meself, nearly was drowned at mablethorpe as a kid,so it put me off the idea.I think all kids should be taught.Wonder if it was the same girl at Carlton forum?my kids went in late 70s.

Did anyone take their kids to be taught to swim by a woman called Maureen ,the lessons were (I think) during school summer holidays. She was a fantastic teacher, she used to hold a broom handle in front of the learner swimmer and they would be swimming trying to catch hold of the broom which Maureen would move forward. My daughter loved it and could swim by the end of the school hols.

My Dad had a vauxhall victor,he had it for donkeys years ,he loved that car,A strange thing is after he died,my daughter came downstairs (she had just looked through her bedroom window)she said 'grandads here' she still to this day swears his car was outside our house, there were not many viva's around at that time,I looked out the front window ,for a split second I saw the car ,then it was gone.

Went to the Vina Cook doll museum a couple of times, loads of lovely dolls and a few other toys,It's closed now as Vina sadly died.I think her husband sold the dolls at auction.I always thought the place seemed a bit spooky,as if the dolls could see you,but it wasn't scary just spooky.

Not seen a real tramp/gentleman of the road for years,I used to see one when I lived in Carlton,he seemed to be carrying everything with him. What happened to all these men, never saw a woman tramp.

Telephone booths that have not been vandalised. In Brighton last week I saw a bloke selling beads, clothes, and other stuff from an old red phone booth.
