  1. I have spent over £2300 on an Apple Mac & associated items, as a retirement present for myself... after the geeks who worked for me proclaimed it to be the ultimate. AND..it is so complicated. I have spent 4 weeks trying to setup what would have taken me an hour in windows... and the Mac is still not setup. I thoroughly loathe it. It seems to be YEARS behind windows, although the geeks claim that windows stole everything from Apple.

I wish I had my £2300 back. I could buy a really super windows laptop and have enough left for a holiday.

  2. !960's Saturday morning; Cuban heels, Denim Jeans, matilot shirt, Donovan hat; Hockey skates over shoulder, Trolley bus to town and run to Ice -ring with mates from Cotgrave. Afternoon, practice with the group at New Basford church hall. Evening: Fish for tea, on to gig, or back to church hall for party and dancing.

  3. Sawdust in butchers, grease on the floor, whitewash prices on windows,

White wash cellars, electric sockets hanging off the wall with a shock.

Good old Limewash and rogue electricity. I once limewashed a cellar, which had old round pin sockets all over the place. A good loaded brush full of limewash soon ran into one of those sockets attached to top of door frame and my hair stood on end as a powerful 240 volts gave my heart a kick start, it didn't really need..

  4. Does anyone know anything of the plane crash debris that was on the Beeston recreation ground?

It was embedded into the eastern end of the park when I played there in the early 1950's and it was still there in the 70's when I took my children to the park.

We were told that it was the wreckage of a German aircraft which was shot down during the war. Not sure which war, though.

I would really like to get the facts on this aircraft, if anyone can help.

  5. My husband's cousin's daughter (hope you followed that) was a Page 3 girl several years ago. That branch of the family did appear to be very proud of the fact. The girl's then boyfriend was less enamoured by it and slashed the poor girl's face with a razor, disfiguring her for life!

    Really? What was her name?

  6. Time for some women to get a real job...

Feminist: Woman who is jealous of other women getting all the attention.

Never did read the Sun, so never did see the page 3 anyway... , but it seems it meant a lot to the female models.

Guess there is always some pious, self-righteous individuals ready to poke their nose into other peoples fun and enjoyment, instead of getting on with their own unblemished lives.

  7. Christmas 1964. There was a small shop on the opposite side to the Midland station, about 100 yards (not metres) further on, toward Trent Bridge. It had a variety of goods, many electrical. It was about 5pm on a Saturday evening just before Christmas. My father took me there in his van and in the window wasa red electric guitar with a tremelo. It was 14 guineas. £14 - 14/- That was to be my Christmas present. That magical moment and the vision of the dark, Christmassy evening on Arkwright Street; the shop and when I saw the guitar and he asked me if I would like it, is imprinted in my memory and will stay with me forever.

And parking bays at the supermarkets......but that is not always the young, its the idle people who can't be bothered to walk!

Like MY wife... although in all fairness she does have disabilities, but we don't want to claim anything. If you don't claim money; you can't have a parking place, even if you ar disabled. Crazy.

  9. Children holding doors open for adults.

    Children doing ANYTHING for adults.

It always amuses me to see how the young and fit grab the disabled and elderly seats on buses and show complete complacency and lack of concern when an elderly or disabled person in left standing.

When we were kids, it was a privelege to stand for a lady. Now it's sexist.

  10. 1956 Austin A30 van. 803cc. Zenith carb. Black. PNN 756 cost £5. in 1967.

Bought with a hole in the cylinder head and 4 flat tyres. No mot and the handbrake tore out of the floor on first use.

It ran quieter than a Rolls Royce and did 70MPG. How I missed her !

    After a year I got £20 P/ex on a Standard Ensign for £80.
