Following on from the topic The Last Pit" - does anyone know the whereabouts of Roy Lynk; is he still alive and in good health?

I certainly hope so.

The reason I'm asking is that, for as long as I can remember, I have drawn faces and, especially ones that have character and strength. In 1992, Roy Lynk staged a week long sit-in at Silverhill Colliery in protest at the government's pit closures programme and The Nottingham Evening Post was there when he emerged into the daylight. The resulting photograph, which appeared on the front page, was wonderful and I saved it with the intention of drawing it - but - it is only in the last few months that I have made a start on it and I now hope to have it completed in time for the Rise Park Art Exhibition later this month.

I would be really pleased if anyone has any information about Roy Lynk's present wellbeing.

This is the photograph from the Evening Post:
