Basford Lad 2
Ey up. We've just come back from a visit to Nottingham and my wife wanted us to visit Ealing Avenue to see where she was born which was the shop on the corner fronting onto Vernon Road. It has changed greatly and is no longer a shop though you can see the evidence of it in the brick work. I know it's a long shot but might anyone have a picture of this? Or perhaps point me to where I might find one? All the best to all
Cliff Ton 10,505
Not exactly replying to your question, but Ealing Avenue gets mentioned several times in this old thread. https://nottstalgia.com/forums/topic/6912-old-roads-into-old-basford/#comment-107392

Basford Lad 2
Here is a memory of my wife's worth mentioning I think. As a baby living there mid 1960's and when it got close to the time when her dad would return from work (it was her mum that ran the shop) she would be placed in the shop window to keep an eye out. However, as my wife has a physical disability this drew not a few complaints as many did not like to see a disabled baby in the window. Subsequently they sold up not solely due to that but it played a part.
Cliff Ton 10,505
You may know this already but.........there is a Facebook group dedicated to Basford with hundreds of old photos - https://www.facebook.com/Basford1st/timeline Unfortunately, if you aren't on Facebook I'm not sure what you will see with that link.
