  1. Sorry if I went too far. It was a bit of an insult to the dog. I don't like him either and his show was the pits. RKS, in my mind is on the same level and I don't like him either. I do like some people though, honest... A
  2. He sounded like a bitch in labour, with one leg on the mantle piece and the other up the chimney. A
  3. My other half was a bit down in the dumps today and then he saw 'Rob'. He fell about laughing and agreed to have a sticker on the car, something he has never done before. Are they printed yet? If not, when will they be? A
  4. I want one as well. The pidgeon would enhance the vehicle we drive around in too! I think the look on the guys face is fantastic. Tag him on the end Mick, it gives the site a certain PIZAZZ. A (N.B. Is that the plural for Pizza...)
  5. My Uncle lived on Widecombe Lane and my sister lived on Rivergreen. She now lives in Skegness and my Uncle died some years ago. My sister was also moved to Clifton during the redevelopment of the Meadows but that was early 70's I think. A
  6. The council replaced them with brick bungalows some years ago. The bungalows were built inside out, the wood frame was built and then the roof was put on. They were insolated and then the walls were built on the outside. The workmen didn't take down the shed, they are still standing. The one my relation was in seemed to be coming apart, the walls were leaving the floor but as you say they were thirty years older than they were meant to be. A
  7. Didn't they used to have solid fuel central heating as well? When you walked in the sitting room did they have a small window that looked in to the kitchen? Some where near the middle door, they were so cosy and warm. Good memories of visiting my Uncle and Aunt as a child. A
  8. I did my best to help but I may have been a bit over zealous. A
  9. Totally agree about those lights. I have now been ciggy-less for two years but when I went to work and my husband drove me I hated those lights, he would moan before we got there and moan all the time they were on stop. You know how men blow things up out of all proportion, it was always along the lines of '...waiting twenty minutes at Ho Chi Min City,,,; It was all of thirty seconds. I used to have two cigarettes a day, one on the way to work and one on the way back. I will leave you to guess the common denominator. Didn't bother smoking at work because the Revenue had a no smoking poli
  10. The Mobile phone one does it for me too. 'Mine has a 'phone book' in particular A
  11. Didn't take your advice, watched and cringed..... A
  12. Stars in their eyes tonight sees Jerry Springer 'doing' Elvis. One to avoid or one to watch?? A
  13. My husband and I (I will be using the Royal 'we' next) used to go in the Boulevard in the late 60's, I think it was Albert who kept it at that time. All the steeplejacks used to collect in there. My eldest son was behind the bar at around 3 weeks old, it was during the day, not at night and we were not drinking so he was quite safe. A
  14. Did he have a fondness for skimmed milk? A
  15. I have just been informed by my husband that his dog, Rough, was fighting with an Alsatian, not walking about. A bit more useless information, the Albert Finney character was working in the three speed machine shop with a guy called Vince Howard standing behind him. Husband used to work in the same shop. Going back to the beginning of Raleigh Industries, on Raleigh Street there is an archway where it all started and husbands grandfather was one of the founder members. Just a bit of useless information. A
  16. Was he a really marvellous super hero? The captain of his own destiny. A
  17. Did you ever go into the Boulevard? Around about the same time. A
  18. How about the seasonal ones. How do you know its Christmas Woolworths advertise Easter Eggs and so on. A
  19. When you do get around to seeing this film again look out for a small black Corgi type dog walking around like he owns the place. It was my husbands when he was younger. He went to school with Alan Silitoe I believe, and it appears he was nothing like he portrayed in the books. A
  20. Did his catchphraze used to be SHAZAM by any chance. A
  21. It could be the Chip shop that used to be at the top of Canning Circus, no wait, that changed from a funeral parlour. Never did fancy the pies from there..... A
  22. Mmmm you did well there. Macbeth was written by Shakespeare but it was not made into an opera by him. It was some years later that it became an opera. One of my favourites and also Pagliacci but I think Jussi Bjorling made this his own. You have probably realised that I prefer classical to pop music. Well done and I will give you a rest for a while to allow your brain to cool down. Ann
  23. Titles of Operas and Operettas, but who wrote them and in what year? 24. Is that somewhere near the Log Cabin or like most women is my sense of direction slightly off?? A
