Only with button up flies Beekay. Zip flies can be disastrous when you've no kecks on.
Every man deserves a well aired scrotum.
Who remembers those snake belts we used to wear and bright red cheap clarks shoe sandals ?

Nottingham schools in top 100
.
Click here to read their views.CITY schools have been ranked among the country's best for the development of their pupils.
Blue Bell Hill Primary in St Ann's has been named the number one school in the country for the value it adds to its pupils' education.
It scored 105 for contextual value added (CVA) – a measure which takes account of a school's circumstances and compares it with how well its children do.
Head teacher Jo Bradley said: "We believe in allowing our children to make as much progress as they should, or are able to."
As an ex pupil of Blue Bell Hill School this sounds like good news ,but what the heck is CVA? Can the kids read ,write, and do maths better,to equip them for better jobs.
Still its a good effort,I remember not so long ago BBH was right at the bottom of the heap.
Just had another thought.
In my day we did not have CVA . Music was the sop which the kids were fed. However the education was good if VERY tough( wow were the teachers quick with the cane and strap) but everyone could read, they could do arithmetic in their heads, and could Speel!
Blue bell hill used to call it donkey hill !

Anyone go to this school back in 1967ish.
Me & my sister both attented this school. We wasn't cathoics, but my mum is & she got them take us on. I remember the nuns & a german male teacher. The headmistress was, Sister frances. I cannot find anything on the net about the school & the nuns, only details of the school today.
Would love to hear from anyone that went to the school. We didn't stay there long. We were always on the move & to a different school.
Hi tre i attended there 1965 ish , can't remember any teachers , but we had a warm bottle of milk with a straw , and you could buy biscuit abbey crunch from the school shop !

There was some consternation at the time when the school was named after a living councillor. My enduring memory of him was seeing his toupee blow off as he was climbing the Council House steps. He chased and managed to retrieve it.
That would of been a giggle to see, hope it was a right windy day !!!!

When I lived on Alfreton Road in the 1960s there were derelict houses in the area between Independent Street and Boden Street where flats were later built. My friends and I called this area "Bomb Buildies" and we enjoyed many a happy hour exploring.
Different times...
Hi Rhymester, i lived in st annes well in the 60,s before the demolition squad moved in to flatten all the buildings i lived in Rushworth avenue just off leicester street , back of hungerhill road , we used to climb in those half knocked down houses in them days , no health and safety mob in those days!
I used to attend morley school in those days , also went to st augustines catholic school top of Dame agnes road , and remember a milk float crashed through boots the chemist window in the snow .

Hi all... Passed by the Apollo pub near Morrisons , Bulwell yesterday morning... its just a shell... and I suspect a pile of rubble within a few days.
I only went in a couple of times many years ago...not the most welcoming place but the building itself was imposing,
Oh well... another link to the past ends up as hardcore.
Used live grindon crescent in the 70,s and every time i strolled pass there there were always folks outside ready for a punch up , do you remember the horse and jockey pub in the centre of bulwell ?

In (little)Waitrose last week i was doing a bit of shopping ,the security man was walking round the store as usual..,when all of a sudden he and two policemen were leading a handcuffed lad out of the shop! good to see the security bloke is doing a good job.
Not so good in the 99p shop in broad marsh,it was a while ago that I saw two teenagers stuffing sweets in their hoodies .I told the person on the till but he just shrugged,I know it's only 99p,but it's still stealing.
That poundworld hate when you ask em how much are yer light bulbs mate ?
When we were nippers we used to go in the sweet shop and ask , how much are yer penny chews mister ????
