  2. Who the F did Duelling Banjos and is is on a comp anywhere?
  3. Mason Williams is in and that reminds me of one I haven't played for years! Touch of Velevet, Sting of Brass - Mood Mosaic - so now I have another one as well!
  4. Oops - thank you Ayup - but it was late, I was tired! I really wanted to type: It's a shame - The Spinners. They were the Detroit Spinners before being the Spinners on Motown but I don't know if they were also the famous Detroit Spinners afterwards. Do you know? Craig will, or Pete or Ian.
  5. I was in the record shop yesterday - this is true of a lot of my yesterdays. In the early seventies I used to buy my records for the Penny from the record shop in the basement of the rediffusion shop. The staff all used to come up to the Penny. Anyway, I bought a Kent compilation called Northern Monsters (it is very good) that opens with an insrumental called 'Double Cooking' by the chequerboard Squares. The sleeve notes for this track say: If ever there's a 'can instrumentals have soul' debate.................and I thought well of course they can there's so and so.........and so on. Th
  6. Chris - if you text me on ************ I'll send you Ron's mobile number.
  7. Just posted you a note via yahoo.................. Sex is what I wanted to do to you for years, but you were so scary I kept giving you packets of polos instead - I think you had about two hundred packets in the DJ stand at one point!
  8. It seems that Nottstalgia reaches right round the world! How amazing is that. I have found quite a few folks now, so while my luck is in, I'll try for these two. Ron reckons Andy Ash was definitely back in Notts at one point - after he left Ibiza. Has anyone heard from him at all? Are you out there somewhere Andy? Ian seems to have disappeared of the face of the planet - but me him and Steve Frost used to be in the Hippo every night without fail. I would have bneen best man at his wedding if I'd woken up in time! If you're out there Ian get in touch mate!
  9. OK - tonight it's really late and I'm thinking about those days at the Hippo and one of my favourite songs back then was the Detroit Spinners - It's a shame. Loved it and the girl that used to dance with me when it was on!!
  10. It certainly was - it is indeed Tony, manger of the Hippo in person.
  11. I expect Tony does !laughing!
  12. Chris - I've asked Ron (texted) if he would like me to give you a contact number............I'll let you know
  13. Nope - but I sent him a message and he doesn't remember me either, so it works out about even. Still, we now have a manager - 2 Djs - a glass collector (me) and a barmaid - Hippo girl! Soon we really will have enough to open up the club again! Hope you had a good birthday Pat - lot's of sunshine, beer and sex but not necessarily in that order!
  14. Spoke to Ron Attenborough last night - I'm happty to say he's in fine fettle and on top of the world! He tells me that Cog Elliott is alive, well and as dangerous as ever - Come on Cog - sign up and say hello! And, of course, Stu (Morris) and Jan can be contacted on the chatroom for the radio Stoke Soul Show on friday nights! Come on guys - you could put in an appearance here too. Finally - where is Dave Williams? Ron tells me he's getting on a bit now, but can still mix it with the best of them - Hi Dave, come and say hello!
  15. Hang on - you're not Tony, manager Tony, are you? Now that would be something!
  16. Is that Wendy with the red hair, or the dark?
  17. You are taking the p! You are taking the p aren't you? This can't be true! Can this be true?
  18. I know they're trying to find cheaper ways to mend our roads but.......... I was sat at some traffic lights today, waiting for them to change, so I could turn right, which was a bit silly cos my car was at home. Anyway, all of a sudden two workmen in their flourescent jackets appeared. One had a shovel full of tar, the other had his hands in his pockets. They both walked to a small hole in the road and the man with the shovel emptied it's contents into the hole, leaving a small steaming mound! They looked at each other, shrugged, saw that the lights were about to change and walked off. H
  19. Thank you very much. So do they look familiar to any of you guys?
  20. Dunno mate - I just played the records and drank the beer. Why won't it let me expand the image to full size? It says click here etc - and then bleeps when I do! So no one can really see the guys faces! While we're at it - was Parachutes - the Pretty things - a hit? I think not, but don't really know.
  21. Does anyone know the two guys on the dance floor? I htink the one on the right was a glass collector.....
  22. I thought we were trying to fix the virus that Craig has caught? Even though Craig can't see wat we're doing. !laughing!
