  1. Good Day.

Today the sun was shining, so I came up with the bright idea of getting the cycles out of hibernation in the garage where they have been since October.

Seeing as I moan so much if I have to endure a walk in the park, Chris jumped at the chance. We decided to take it easy, seeing as we both have chest problems, just a five miler on the flat.

When we got home, we felt really pleased, today felt as if we have achieved something.

    Onwards and upwards aye Miducks.

PS, Chris got a bloomin' puncture two miles from home . Daft Bo99er.

  2. Not sure where I got this story from, but here goes.

The tunnel was built approximately mid 18hundreds, for the carriages to get to the Park Estate. It was never used for what it was built for as it turned out to be too steep for the horses to drag the carriages up there?

We attended that Tunnel meet up and it was a lovely day. Sorry to say it rained throughout the walk, but the company made up for that. I believe Sue (Mrs Catfan) took some pictures and made a presentation of them, it was brilliant,   I had a look on our Nottstalgia Social Events thread and there was also some photos taken by Catfan, also ruined, I imagine when the photobucket  fiasco happened. Such a shame, because it was a pleasant day .

Carni I didnt realise that you and Chris were still suffering as much,

Thankyou Trogg, The worse time was from 10th Nov-about 20th Dec. Things got more bearable over Christmas even though we didn't do Christmas this year. The damage to our chests has and still is worrying, but we are getting there slowly. Being retired and not having children to look after means that we have been able to just take each day as slowly as we feel. No pressure on us. Just waiting for xray results for Chris. Fingers crossed.:)

Looking on the bright side towards Summer - it would be a great pleasure if you and Chris could come over here to try out our local towpaths on the T&M - and the pubs of course .....and my new courtyard and patio.

Sounds like a plan. Thankyou PP, something to look forward to. I never could resist a new Courtyard and Patio. Better get my mud guards polished then.

  5. Chris is at hospital  just now having a chest xray to see if the virus has done any damage to his chest. He still has a dreadful cough and can't do any exertion without getting breathless.

While he was gone I decided to tidy my wardrobe:Shock: but by the time I had put away our breakfast crocks and decrumbed the carpet, I too have had to collapse on to the sofa , really breathless. First day of the virus was the 10th Nov ( a date I will never forget) we are still far from healthy. I sometimes wonder if we ever will be again.

No cycling since October, but we are not really allowed anyway just now. It would be impossible to stay within our locality. A mile on a cycle is gone before you realise, and for the people who push the limits they should be ashamed.

We are trying short walks, but I moan all the while we are out, never was a favourite of mine.

Got to go and put the kettle on, Hubbs is on his way home. Look after yourselves every one, it is even more risky out there now.

    I'm staying in!:)

  8. I got a bit distracted whilst writing my post about the vaccines. I wanted to point out the same Jill, how patchy the distribution of the vaccines are, regardless of age or health.

Sorry if I put too much emphasis on our individual ailments, it seemed appropriate at the time but reading my post now, it could have been better. So long as you all get the message.

  9. My sister in law aged 84 lives at Coleshill B/ham, she has now had both vaccinations. My other sister in law and her husband both 82 and 83 ish live in Coven, they are registered at the Docs in Brewood Staffordshire and there has been no vaccines delivered yet?

Chris (hubbs) is 76this year heart attack survivor also diabetic. Plus recovery from Covid19. Waiting patiently (worried) but waiting in hope.

Myself, 73 this year, Stroke, two TIAs, AF. Two Heart catheter ablations, Underactive Thyroid on Warfarin, Thyroxine plus other meds for life. Just trying to get over Covid19 as well. No complaints at all, The med profession doing the best they can. I consider myself lucky to be alive, No idea where I come on the vaccine list, but I will be there like a shot when I get notified.

And as I think our own Carni and Chris have told us. it is no walk in the park.

As PP said 'A very good post' DJ. My chance here again. to get my tuppence worth in. Seven weeks down the line and we still get breathless just walking around the house, coughing and gasping for breath every morning. The easiest of jobs leave us having to sit down to catch our breaths. Chris is awaiting a chest x ray as he has real trouble breathing, and the Doc wants to know the damage.

You will talk to people out there who have had Covid 19 who will say it was a walk in the park, there are those unfortunate souls so ill, who ended up not making it and those like us somewhere in the middle.. Please, Please, get your jabs, we have been in fear for our lives this last few weeks. If you are one of 'The walk in the park victims', you wont understand what it is like to be one of the people who get sicker, believe me. DONT RISK IT. I am not a scaremonger. Just DO IT.

  11. Not a lot to see, but if you sit quietly and look around you can feel the history, and with a bit of imagination you can conjure up images from many years ago when the lock would have been very busy with working barges . Not like today, with the holiday makers and their posh narrowboats. It's great to see the canals still in use, and more being opened up for the future.

Wonder if it does Wes Midlands too? That area's a puzzle anyway.

I had a look BK. There is just about half a dozen. None very exciting. I completed the one of the lock, a place that we sit on a bench and watch the ducks. It is called Top lock, Broad St Basin, to get to that point we have just finished cycling a run of 21 locks, on the Birmingham Main Line. Always ready for a rest by then. The jigsaw is quite dull really, so I did it quickly with 63pieces, almost finished before I had started. it's just that it means something to us, being one of our favourite routes. Sentimental. :)

  13. This Christmas will be very different for us as our immediate family are all  staying in their own homes for the whole Christmas period, not because we are contagious anymore but we are not well enough for the usual get together, both Christmas day and our 54th Anniversary on Boxing day.

This is the very first Christmas that we have been on our own since 1966, I have already booked my big sofa, hubbs gets the two seater. Lots of laying about eating chocs and Trifle. Already sampled some after tea today. MmMm. Well somebody has too..........:)

  14. Best wishes for a Happy Christmas to you all. Hope we all get the opportunity for our vaccines as soon as possible (That is for those who want them) Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy 2021. Thankyou all for your friendship again during the last year and for your well wishes during the last 6/7 weeks that Chris and I have at times felt very ill and frightened for our future. I will always look in at the beginning and end of my day, just to see what is happening with you all. Best Wishes Miducks.xxxxx:biggrin:
