  1. Wish we were at Skeggy  Catfan. I know you and Sue always enjoy your times there. We were booked in for the 14th-28th at The Royal Oak site at Winthorpe, carried forward from cancelled Covid associated hols from last year. We have recently had to cancel the hols again on Docs orders. Very disappointed but know the Doc is right.

We love Skeggy, as you all know, hubbs and I met there in 1964, We had a Boxing Day wedding and we honeymooned there in the spring of 1967.

We have no interest in foreign travel, plenty of Great Britain left for us to explore.

Have fun both, I'm sure you will.

  2. No ones safe, until every one is safe. I agree Brew.

We were due to start a two week holiday today, but on Doctors advice, we have had to cancel . A bit disappointed but common sense tells us it would be unwise. Still ill after Pancreatitis, so even though we had the virus in Nov and Dec and both had both vaccines, we don't want the risk of even a mild dose of Covid again.

I still think Covid is a very scary illness and worries me for the future.

  3. I finally had my 2nd jab on 28th April. I was very concerned about whether I was well enough, as I came out of hospital on the 18th April and still having slow recovery from Pancreatitis, lots of pain! Doc said to have it, so hubs got me to the 'jab station'. Very pleased to say there was no problems, and thrilled I had the vaccine.

  4. I'm back now from an experience i hope never to be repeated. Eight days ago I was rushed off to hospital with severe Pancreatitis, and from then I have been on a different planet, still waiting for my brain to begin working again. Thea pain was unbeleavable and the trip with Morphine was frightening. Just wanted to say where I had been, and  I feel so poorly it will be a while before I am back to normal, but, I know there is improvement so give me a couple of weeks and I should be back to nomal,so for now I will  read your posts and join in later. x

  5. Both got our second jabs on the 15th. I have the Astra at 9.50am and Chris the Pfizer at 4.55pm, both at same place. I asked why we couldn't have the jabs at same time. It seems they are doing the Astra in the morning and Pfizer in the afternoon. Good job we live within walking distance, we can have some exercise thrown in.

I don't wear shoes or socks either indoors or in the garden if the weather is OK.

I never wear shoes in the house and to walk on the lawn barefoot is heaven, even more so if it has been raining. One problem.....always got mucky feet. No not from the carpet, from the lawn?

WELL, have I been spoilt today. It seems that my family have clubbed together and bought me an ACER Swift 3 for my birthday later in April.

Would you believe it. After spending all that money on me for my birthday; the bo99er broke down. First of all one of the keys became loose, almost completely off and quickly followed by the pad freezing! Son was not a happy bunny. All that dosh and it was faulty. To cut a long story short, it was taken back to Curries on Friday and no problem, refund straight away and a new one ordered. That came yesterday and we are up and running again. Missed you all.x

  8. Phwaar, Have I been having withdrawal symptoms. No Laptop for a weekish. I was having problems charging it for a couple of weeks, and then all of a sudden Kerplunk, it  packed up all together. Boo Hoo.

WELL, have I been spoilt today. It seems that my family have clubbed together and bought me an ACER Swift 3 for my birthday later in April, but they can't stand to see me with my bottom lip dragging on the carpet any longer, so they have given me it early.

Son has been trying to get me started on my new mean machine just now, but because we can't get into my broken laptop for passwords, he has only managed to get some sites for me. One being Nottstalgia. YaY.

I don't know how to use this fabbo piece of technology properly just yet, but at least I seem to have  idea? Good to be back reading your posts.

Grew up watching and listening to Mam and her sisters to this kind of music

I'm with you there benj. Our front room was often turned into a dance floor. The same as you, Mam and her sisters, sometimes SueB48 and my sister, all jiving, trying to Jitterbug with Mam was a laugh. I miss those days so much.

I forgot to say I love that film, I laugh so much at their antics. Naughty Girls, and that there Bob was having a whale of a time.

What a rotten singer  tooo ooo ooo.

Don't be a offended LL. Not your wonderful singing. This was the end of the song, as sung by all of us inebriated customers as we tried to dance to Knees up Mother Brown at the end of the night.

put me right if im wrong about the dance floor Carnie ?

Yes Benj, there was a good sized dance floor  in the Grey Goose. Mum, her sisters and husbands, cousins and friends all used to go for a dance at the weekend. My younger sisters used to babysit my children for us when we came home to visit family, we had some great nights in the 'Big room' as we called it. The band, I think were called 'Reg Guest trio' were mainly playing at the weekend, but also live groups as well. My mum and her sisters would waltz around the room while the rest of us would be Jiving or Twisting! The last time I was in the Grey Goose sadly was for my little brothers wake in 2006.

  12. Hello BK, I tried to show a photo taken on 'The Muchgigglin' but what ever happened 'I don't Know'? I posted the picture on Sept 1st 2015, in this thread. I tried to quote it today, but somehow it went wrong? The picture is still there but I don't know how to get it to come up, it just went to photo bucket? On looking at the picture, I realise you can't see much of the narrowboat, just us and a few cake crumbs. Have to go out now, but I will have another go when I get back.  Unless our saviour CT has a go before I get back. Please!

The photo is on page 3, scroll down quite a way.

carni, if ever a bright red narrow boat called Muchgigglin' comes by, give 'em a shout and a wave, it's my hubby's cousins. They're always out and about on their boat, on one canal or another. You'll hear it before you see it, the engine is an old one that chugs!

After having no luck spotting the Muchgigglin' over the last two years. (Even though we have had a lot of laughs searching) We have just had the pleasure of meeting Your Hubby's cousins Katyjay and not only have we seen the elusive Muchgigglin, but treated to a guided tour by the two lovely people who own it. Many Thanks Katyjay. We got there in the end. Sorry still no luck!

More class! If you can.. go 'full screen' on this .. it is fabulous..

What a fantastic sound to start my day DJ. The unbeatable sound of 'The Platters' plus a beautiful, elegant lady as well.  I feel a day of 'The Platters' coming up. As you know I have got quite a selection to choose from. Where do I start? I don't think anything will beat your video.:)

  15. Brew and BK, Thankyou for your replies. I am not sure if the problem is in the Laptop or cable, but if I wiggle the connection about a bit gently, I usually get enough charge to last me for a quick visit. If if stops altogether, I might treat myself to a new laptop?

I use my Laptop whilst sitting on the sofa. It literally is a Laptop. The plug is across the floor so if I haven't charged it up before hand, I have to risk it. I put a cushion on the floor now and that warns us to be careful. To little to late I think.

Anyway, If I disappear for a while, you will know it's because I have run out of juice!
