  1. I am having a problem charging my Laptop. The connection seems to be hit and miss at the moment. I believe at sometime I must have tripped over my charger and possibly damaged it.

Hence I have to completely closedown each time I  have been on the social network,  At the moment I can use it for approximately 15/30mins at a time and then I have to recharge and go through the starting up procedure again.

Does anyone have any tips to keep me going. When I plug in to charge up, I have to wiggle the connection until it connects? Can take a while to get the little light on and then it can drift off again.

  2. Oh Yes. Met at sweet sixteen and married 2 1/2 years later. I didn't have an engagement ring until my 25th wedding anniversary. Always did things in the wrong order.

Funny enough, I was doing a bit of sorting out today and found my wedding announcement in the Evening Post,Dec 1966 I saved it all this time.55yrs. It's rather tatty now. I haven't got  a copier so I can't put it on NS. Aint love grand.

I can't say I rate Betahistine much for treating it.

Thank you for your reply DJ. The episode of Virtigo has passed again an I am back to being normal? The doc said to leave the Betahistine off until it recurs and I think some more investigation is coming.

I know what triggered the last  episode. I stood up and moved towards the kitchen at speed, before I'd gone four steps the walls were moving.  I do have a habit of zooming around at home, so I am trying to control my movements a bit. Very difficult when you are a zoomer!

  4. Here goes.

I wasn't going to say anything adverse about my experience because so many people need to get their vaccines and I wouldn't want to put them off. I really want every one to get vaccinated as they say 'No one is safe until everyone is safe!

We had Covid in November, Chris ended up in hospital, thankfully only for one night. I think you have to witness someone  with a bad dose of Covid to understand how terrifying it can be. Believe me we were both petrified.

Still recovering, when called for our vaccines on Feb 1st, I was also prescribed medication  as I was having a bad Virtigo attack. I decided to go ahead and have my vaccine. Chris had Pfizer and just had a sore arm for a couple of days. I had the AZ vaccine and I went down hill and was quite poorly again. Doc prescribed Betahistine, I seem to be ok now. The problem is I don't know how much of my downhill spiral was due to the AZ or the Virtigo.

I will be there straight away when I get my call for my second jab, but a bit worried what to expect.

  5. I had forgotten The Sam Cooke version I have no idea why, because he made some brilliant records. I have just listened to both versions and  I have to say I  can happily sing along to both. Both singers remind me of times in my yoof.

Thank you for the instructions again DJ. I have taken a screen print and  safely tucked it away.

I sent benj my instructions but I think yours are easier to follow. Good luck benj.

  6. I worked in a corner shop Beer off at the time of the change over to decimal and I did have a lot of explaining to do especially with the old ladies who came in for their daily pint of sherry or ruby wine from the kegs. It got easier to explain as the day wore on. (generally involved a second pint/half pint). I think some people thought we were trying to diddle them. By the time they had finished grilling me, I ended up almost as confused as them.

We took over tenancy of the shop in 1973 for the next 9yrs and I was still having to try to explain the change over.

I have a little box full of old coins, among them there are three five pound notes with ink runs on them and quite a few old sixpences, farthings, silver threepences + the usual pennies and halfpennies etc. I cashed a lot of the ones with most silver in, as we had amassed quite a few from sales.

  7. When we had the first lock down early last year, and people started wearing masks etc, here in the  area we live in, there seemed to be a feeling of comradeship in the air.

Apart from the underlying fear of the virus, people we passed on our daily cycle rides (exercise), and walking to the shop., seemed to go out of their way to be friendly in the awful unsure time we were in. I wrote somewhere on NS, how proud I was of the way people seemed to be working together to do their bit to ward off the virus.

But. A big BUT. What has happened. Where has that feeling gone.  Sometimes I feel most uncomfortable in the big stores. I agree, if people are uncomfortable around others, just stay away in busy times.

I know I make mistakes, and occasionally forget to put my mask on (it's usually dangling on my wrist when I realise), I can sometimes forgetfully wonder off the footprint path in the store, but I do my best to abide by the rules. I would never glare at anyone or make cruel remarks to them. You can usually recognise the ones who deliberately have no intention of following the rules and sometimes it is those people who are the most unfriendly.   Stay Safe You Lot. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Did you ever hear what happened to Canon Watson after he retired?

Thankyou LL, we are slowly on the mend. We haven't got the strength of a baby between us yet, but on the right path.

I have no news on Canon Watson. I have just spent an hour looking for info on my laptop, but found nothing. Sorry.

A few years back, I did some research on him, but I don't think I kept any of the results. I will have another delve, see if I have any notes tucked away.

  9. I have had to relent a little in my dislike of a certain word, which has crept in to being. Not the actual word, but the way it is often used these days. Mainly when being served in restaurants.

I was born a girl, was a girl when I married my husband. Still am. Years have passed and now I am an 'Old Girl!

Why in my 70s have I suddenly become   'A Guy'? I know hormones have a lot of explaining to do as we woman pass a certain age but come on, not that much.

When sitting at our table awaiting supper, and the happy smiling person, notebook in hand approaches for our order, And says 'Hi Guys, How are you doing and what can I get for you tonight. I don't want to ruin the day for them, so I just smile sweetly, then run to the 'Powder Room' to check for whiskers!!!

    PS. Yes......There are a few.xx
