  2. could well have been them, geoff & jimmy were always together dont know where they lived though i only saw them at the dungeon. cant remember the walk but then again you remember how dark it was. mg

  4. edwin starr was very freindly with his audiance, an old mates claim to fame was meeting him at the dungeon and being given his tie. cant remember which mate it was. lads i used to know down there rad snowdon, geoff seymour, pat scott, geoff blackett, jimmy ?. last time i saw jimmy he was flogging stuff from a suitcase outside the black boy. think rad snowdon did a bit of d jing in later years when it became the 8 till late. you a musician then craig. mg

  9. stoneyford is about a mile walk for us past the jessop monument and the back of ormonde fields golf club, but you are correct at one time it was all part of the park land of codnor castle. thanks for the welcome mg

  11. hi craig, i didn,t hear that, dont think there is any question about his sexuality from what weve seen and heard on the media, but who knows?. maybe i,m being nieve but i cant remember another era when there was such a split over music and fashion. then again i was bringing a family up by the early seventies off the scene so to speak. were you down there when the dixie cups were on? never saw anything fall so flat as when they tried to rally support for the boys in vietnam.

  14. i remember being at the dungeon on one of pete stringfellows nights when a whole load of rockers came down to sought out the mods. pete cooled the whole situation somehow and it all came to nothing. i became a pete stringfellow fan that night, i had good mates on both sides mg
  15. remember tapered jeans, turned up shirt collars, winkle pickers, dont know about the rest of you but that was me and my mates in the early 60s. then such a change, made to measure suits, smart hair cuts (no brylcream) levi jeans & the music, the drifters, soul supply, tamla motown, the dungeon club,the brit, the boat and all the other places too numerous to mention. how did it begin? i never gave it a thought, just accepted it. then recently my wife and i holidayed in barbados & the place to be on a friday night there is oystens. its a fish market but on a friday night the car park bec
  16. lived on bloomsgrove st in one of the garden houses opposite the dog and pheasant. although we left when i was only seven my memories of those times are clearer than those of later years, remember the paddling pool rec and brassy rec up near the infamous clayton square (those houses would be declared uninhabitable nowdays) .how about taking a bundle of old rags up to jackie poundalls yard to get enough to go to the winzor flicks. remember skills fish & chip shop just on denman st between bloosgrove and garden st. dont know if he was anything to do with skills coaches.
  17. hello all, just been accepted as a member. i am a 61 year old male, married for 39 years, born in radford on bloomsgrove st, moved to clifton in 55 and grew up there, now live on the notts derby border near alfreton and ripley. looking forward to joining in on some of the forums.
