  1. When I was in Adelaide, I was told in no uncertain terms "Do NOT run over a Possum". When I asked why, I was told they will destroy the suspension on your car - the things are basically walking lumps of concrete!

Fortunately, the situation never arose - and I was never offered any to eat - I did try kangaroo tenderloin, very tasty!

That would not have been a possum they were talking about but a wombat. They are built like a brick dunnie.

PS.Posted this before I read the rest of the posts.

  2. Meanwhile back on the Nottstalgia difficulties, this isn't a problem I've ever experienced so I can't really offer any help or explanations.

When you say "locked out" are you just not able to log in? Until you accessed it via the Proxy, can you get the site or see it at all? So you effectively become a "Guest" for a while.

I believe there is at least one forum (although I'm not sure which one) where a Guest can post messages, which might be your emergency get-out route.

As the problem seems to affect only a few people occasionally, the blocked IP address seems a good bet for an explanation.

Backagain.Only out for a few days this time.

After all the years I've been on this forum why would my IP addy be blocked intermitently ?

Because there is a fault with the server.

  3. Hi Alison.

I can not access the forum at all sometimes.

At other times I might be on the forum but it just freezes me out.

The last time was 13th September and I could not sign out but I noticed when I got back access today that I was actually signed out.

    Gremlins ???? :-)

  4. Well,I got back in to the forum today after being locked out AGAIN from the 13th of this month.
Mick, after much investigation and searching my troubleshooter came back with the same result as last time. There is a fault with the server of Nottstalgia.
I know you said all was ok that end but a bit more investigation would be appreciated.

I remember a short time ago when I was on another forum with the same format that we had a similar problem. This was fixed when the forum changed to a different server.

  5. There is a chippie at the southern end of Bronte Beach that serves the best fish and chips for miles around. Always queues of 12 or more but well worth the wait.

Everything cooked fresh, chips, fish etc - non of this pre-cooked rubbish. Batter is golden, firm to crisp and tasty. Chips are thick and plentiful, well cooked and tasty. Potato cakes (fritters) are thick, well cooked, beautiful batter.

Pickled onions in the jar on the counter, put on your own vinegar and salt, choice of fish.

And it smells like a fish and chip shop - not some Asian kitchen.

Would that be Bronte Melbourne or Sydney Trev ?

  6. My apologies Trev.Jeff Harding is Australian,I was thinking of another boxer who was born in Liverpool and now resides in Sydney.

Further for M2Ms edification.Tony Mundine is also an"Abbo" ex Australian champion boxer. His son Anthony is still a boxer.I use that term loosely because most of the boxers he has fought and beaten were over the hill hacks or not up to a professional standard. He also calls himself an Aboriginal but he is only a half chat because his mother is white. He has also converted to the Islamic faith.

    The mind boggles.

  7. Compo,

The Horse and Groom was at the bottom of St.Peters gate just where it meets Hounds gate. There is a big black gate next to the Halifax building society. That gate use to be the entrance to the courtyard leading in to the Horse and Groom.Upstairs was a restaurant belonging to the pub called The Courtyard restaurant. The landlords name was Stan Roper at the time I worked there which was about 1966 or 67.

Good pub but the ale not so good.Shippo's. thumbsdown
