  1. Oops! I dug the pond and then tried to order the liner. I discovered that the pond was just a bit too large for the liner size available and the next size up was much bigger. After a few seconds I decided to get back down into the pond and dig it out to fit a bigger liner. I now have a bigger pond :)

Good idea.If you dig a bigger pond you could put a bull shark in it. thumbsup

    Herons ???? No more problem.

  2. Move aside Cordon Bleu baking. I have invented Cordon Noir. simply make your sausage roll in the time honoured fashion and bake at Gas Mk8 for 3 hrs - hey presto! Cordon Noir or carbon cookery :D

  3. Not just our chilhood tv presenters, meltonstilton.

A growing number of persons across the community are being outed as alleged sexual perverts/predators of young and old alike.

At the same time, the thoughts voiced by Nottstalgians regarding the money train lingers in the background with some allegations.

Watched the Australian woman on TV the other night who gave a witness statement to Scotland Yard about Rolf Harris. Appearance and speech suggested long time use of legal/illegal ingestants IMHO - could be wrong.

Your Nigel Evans affair is extremely similar to allegations of assault and impropriety by male staff against our Government Speaker.

I think you're spot on there Trev.

Her eyes looked as if she was stoned out of her mind.

If you knew the area she lived in you wouldn't be surprised though. There's more plantations in that area than you would believe unless you saw them.

  4. We had a dog named Pongo when I was a little lad.Dunno why he was called that but I can guess.

Had many other dogs and cats over time. Our present resident is a moggie named Ellie.Should be Hellie because that's what she has given us since we got her two years ago from a pet rescue person.

Wouldn't swap her though, she gives us lots of laughs.

There are a lot of greedy compensation seekers. On the other hand ther were(are)a lot of genuine females who were raped.

There is absolutely NO excuse for rape.

  6. Ironic, FW Woolworths started in the USA and I don't think there is one single branch over here now. They were still big in Australia when I lived down there, but I think Dick Smith bought them out.

Woolworths is one of the biggest grocery and variety stores in Australia now John.( probably the biggest actually)

They bought out Dick Smith but have now sold it to another company.Probably because it didn't make the millions of dollars that they thought it would make.

Dick Smith now manufactures a yeast extract procuct to rival Vegemite, several conserves and peanut butter. All of these products are on the shelves of Woolworths supermarkets.

  7. Here in Sydney we don't get free concessional travel but we do get it very cheap once you get to the old fart stage in life.

We can purchase a daily ticket for $2.50 which entitles us to all day travel on buses, trains, ferries and the dreaded trams.

Mind you,in the morning if it's school time you might have to fight for a seat with the little darlings.I nearly said little bastards but I'm sure some of them might not be. girlvboy

  8. Chrome also stores your favourites in the 'Chrome' folder which is in the user application files. These are hidden unless in folder options you select 'show hidden files'. This works for XP, I cannot say how it works in Windows 7 or 8.

Having said this, anyone using Windows 8 yet? Any good?

Been using W8 since last chrimbo.

Greatest load of crap that I EVER came across.

I'm seriously thinking of dumping it and installing W7.

It's just not up to the easiness of my old XP2.

  9. Sorry to come in to an old post but some of the comments about the disgusting taste of Shipo,s beer can be explained, I was a pub manager with Shipo,s just before Greenalls took over, I was at the New Inn, Carringhton and The WhiteMoor, Bobbersmill, I hold a Master cellar-man cert, for cask conditioned beer. The three main reasons the beer tasted a little vinegary or shyte if you was a customer was 1,The life of real ale (cask Conditioned) had a certain life and if sales was slow or too much was ordered it would start to go off, thus a sour taste. 2, If the pipes was not cleaned at least once a week yeasts would build in the pipes and the same problem would occur.3, Sometimes in could be held at the Brewery too long before delivery same problem again. I must say when Greenalls took over it greatly improved through tighter checks and Training managers about cellar hygiene and keeping the beer better. All to no avail cause they are nearly all gone ie' The local, who would have thought it could happen twenty years ago?????

When I worked as a barman in the Horse and Groom (1966)there was a big turnover in bitter especially.

Stan, the landlord, was a stickler for keeping the pipes clean.I don't know how long the kegs were stored at the brewery but the beer was still shite.

    Shipo's....Bleaaaah ! I can still taste it

  10. Darkazana,I ride mainly around the Waddington,Newark,Collingham and sometimes out towards Gainsborough area's, not quite sure where the A1133 is, I have seen a couple of trikes on my travels but they have been in the Brant Broughton/Ancaster,Cranwell area's, I always have the flags flying on my trike so if you do see them give me a shout and have a natter.

Bazza, I think most Carltons (made in Worksop Notts) were fitted with Campagnolo groupsets, This frame is fitted with Suntour VX with Weinmann brakes, pretty bog standard stuff really, some of the Carlton frames and especially some of the Italian classic frames are going for silly money over here, starting around the £300-£400 mark

    Rog

Wha ???? I think mine cost less than 50 pounds about 1958.

Yes you're right about the Campag' gears. Mine just had the single chain wheel though with 5 sprockets on the back. Also had Mafac centre pull brakes.

  11. Reading this reminded me of this poster I spotted on the net.....Think how much could be saved if they only used Skype... ;) Thousands of coppers could get back to do what they are paid for,not bodyguards for the worlds leaders.Billions spent so they can shake hands and get a free banquet.

Has anyone else noticed that after one of these G20 meetings occurs the global stock market goes down the shitter.

Call me a cynic but I think there is a lot more to it than we are led to believe.

I just wish it could be proved that governments are manipulating the markets for their own benefits.

Maybe this is why Julian Assange is in the crosshairs.

  12. Hey, Bazza....the forecast was out a bit for you lot up there!

Saw on the news tonight that Sydney got to 45.8C...hottest day in 150 years.

Imagine what the heat was like out west of the city; probably another 2-3 degrees higher. Sydney will be competing with Oodnadatta shortly for the highest Australian temperature - 50.7C in 1960.

Reckon it has the makings of a hot summer this year across the country.

My Aunt up there will tell me all about it on Sunday.

Yep,47 C at my house in wetern Sydney yesterday. :faint:

The AC had a really good workout.
