I do seem to remember that pub Frank.
Was it called by another name back in the mid 60s?

No not that one Frank.
The one I was on about was in town.
I can't remember the name of the street but if you were coming along Arkwright street to town the pub was on the corner of the last street on the right before you get to the square.Shippos pub it was.
Mick put up a pic of it a while back.

My brother in law used to bring us bluebuttons from Wollaton park golf course when he worked there.Also on the menu was venison or deers liver whenever the gamekeeper needed to shoot a buck or two.

Scouse buttys with HP sauce was always welcome.You could put chips on with it to make it even better.

The best ones(Jeans)for me in the early 60s were Flemings.
Made and sold in Liverpool.They were just about bullet proof unless you dropped your motorbike and slid down the road on your arse.

The detectors are illegal now John.
You get fined and lose points for having one in the car.
As a deterrent to speeding on long weekend and holiday periods now all fines and demerit points are doubled.
As an example if you are not wearing your seatbelt AND a passenger is not wearing theirs then kiss your licence goodbye for 6 months.

Best meat pies in Sydney is harry's Cafe de wheels in the city.
Lovely flaky pastry.big chunks of beef.gravy to die for topped off with a big helping of mushy peas.

My sister used to live there.Nice place too.
Handy for the motorway,A52 and just a hop away from Ilkeston if that takes your fancy.
