AG. A similar thing happened to me. In 1993 we went to NYC for the first time. Among many things we did, one was to visit Ellis Island. I had a great aunt emigrate to the U.S. in the 20's. My only living aunt had told Chulla and I, that aunt Alice came over here in 1927. Ellis Island was closed by then. After much research later on, we discovered Alice came over in 1923 and went through Ellis Island. I then sent for all her paperwork from there. But, as much as I had enjoyed touring the place, I would have looked at it through different eyes if I had known she had been in those same buildings.

OK. The postgirl brings mail to my mailbox. I suppose you could call that surface mail! No international surface mail I should have said. Picky lot! Ha ha.

I got an email yesterday from a friend in Cheshire saying our Christmas card arrived that day. I mailed it Dec 12 so it took 60 days. We don't have surface mail here, but that seems to be how it travelled. He said it should have been a Valentine card! If it did go airmail it must have been by pigeon.

Ben, I really do wish you would write a book!

Mrs B. I don't think there was a Carlton lido. The ones I remember are Carrington, Papplewick, Calverton, Highfields and my local one, Bulwell. (The only one I ever went to)

I grew up with Gordon Beresford and am friends with him on Facebook. I do believe he still plays in a band.

All poodle mix dogs here are very expensive. But they are mongrels in reality. (I do like them though, very cute)

We moved from Nottingham to Surrey when our 2 eldest were 5 and almost 3. They soon picked up that accent and we didn't. 9 years later and a 3rd child speaking 'Surrey' we moved to Arizona. The kids soon picked up this accent to fit in. So we have never really had the same accent as our kids. Admittedly, our Nottingham accent has gone, but it's still very English.

Nowadays Margie, with all these poodle mix dogs, it would be a pompoo.

Don't really want to scroll through these pages, but was One men went to mow, went to mow a meadow, mentioned? I am reading a book set in WW2 and the kids sang this. I had forgotten about it.

The Pictures and Memories of Nottingham was paused by admin in September. It doesn't say why. The offshoot Pictures and Memories of Basford hasn't had any activity either in several months. A mystery

Daughter's fiance just texted me his Covid test results. Positive. I said Bummer. He said yes, we have a friend flying in this weekend from Ohio to go to a concert with us. I said 'triple mask?' He said they are having Covid sniffing dogs at the entrance. He said, I wonder if I'll get my $180 ticket money back? He doubts it. We never watch the news so had no idea. Apparently they are using these dogs in schools now.

Many moons ago when we still lived in Northern Arizona, I went down to Phoenix for the day. Hubby said, call in this dealership and look at this car. See what you think. So I did, the car salesman showed me the car I was interested in. It had a narrow line painted along the side below the windows. The salesman pointed it out to me and said, I know how you ladies like the stripe down the side. Sale lost, the twit.

4 hours ago, Beekay said:
They do, in their fortune cookies.
A bit of useless information for yer, fortune cookies were not invented in China, but in San Francisco.

Hi Dave. Trevor Stainforth thinks he remembers you and asks if you rode your bike to school every day? Sometimes behind the school bus!
