Now I'm jealous, Mrs B. We used to have Long Clawson Dairy for our milkman, and Fridays, he would bring either blue or white Stilton with the milk, if you had preordered it. White was my favourite cheese.

Did it seem to everyone else that the doctors were either Irish or Scottish? Mine were Scottish, the last one definitely liked a tipple. My mum would occasionally drink in the Red Lion. She'd say the doctor and his wife would be drinking whiskey, she would get 'legless' , he would hoist her over his shoulder and take her out to the car. Put her in there then go back in the pub and carry on drinking. Thankfully he only lived along Nuthall Rd, I'm sure he was way over the limit when driving.

We flew on a Court Line plane once. Either they were turquoise, pink, green or yellow if I remember correctly. The stewardesses were dressed to match.

Rog, do you use rough puff pastry? I assume you cut out a circle, fill it, gather the pastry together and turn it over. Flatten a bit, slit top and brush with egg? I am guessing this as Ive never made Eccles.

Not really a bus post, but my dad did the signwriting on a bus destination canvas. i remember him doing it in our living room on the dining table. It was very long, and came cream coloured. He penciled in all the destinations, then blacked out all around the words so the light shone through them.

Mrs B. We lived in Langar 68-75, then Radcliffe on Trent 75-77. Not a million miles from Cropwell Butler.

David. Your story is so like mine. My grandfather was born in N. Wheatley. My G.Grandmother had 5 children by her husband (no record of a marriage). He died in 1873, but G.Grandmother had 5 more children. All have her husband's name as the father. (Including granddad) But she eventually married a John Newton, who I believe fathered these 5 children as they had Newton in their names.

My next door but one, Geoffrey Cousins, went to H.P. I reckon he would start Sept 57. Was Bestwood campus open then? I have no idea how he got to Bestwood from Amesbury Circus? Perhaps he cycled, but dodgy in winter!

If my memory is correct, the Victoria Centre opend in June 1972, certainly not November. I had my first baby May 72 and took him as a newborn to the newly opened centre.

The egg tray in my fridge holds 14 eggs. They come in dozens! Recently they were $4.75 for a dozen white eggs. Not even the fancy free range variety. crikey.

There is a domino game over here called Mexican Train. Quite popular, up to 6 players.

My dad was in the RAC. Often you would pass a RAC mechanic, parked on a road, and he would salute a passing member. I think the AA did the same for their members.

Some years back, i had a 'check engine' light come up on the dash. Called the dealership (where we had all the services done) and made a later appointment. Went to my bowling league, and was telling a friend about my engine light. She said, take your car to Auto Zone (parts store) and ask them to check your car. I did, the guy took out a hand-held device, plugged it in under the dash, and said, your petrol cap is not fitting properly. Bought a new one for less than $5, and cancelled the dealer appt. Heaven knows how much the dealer would have charged, and most likely would tell me some expensive thing needed doing!

We always dissolved ours in water, but the powder still got you, always one bit that didn't dissolve. i think you can get them in tablet form now?

You are right PP. My dad was abroad, so my mother got a job in Burton's under the arcade, and little Chulla lived Monday to Friday with our grandparents in Old Basford.
